I finally got the rest of my materials and finished making my new barrel tensioner/dampener today for my MK3. I didn't use the carbon fiber tube from FX, I used a different size tube and I made a dampening system that fits around the barrel inside the carbon fiber. I removed the cone end from the shroud and made some spacers with o-rings that the stock shroud slips over to keep it tight and in alignment, there is also one that I installed inside the shroud that butts up at the muzzle end inside the shroud. I made a spacer for the barrel nut end so that when the shroud is tightened it applies equal pressure to the carbon fiber tube. I had done something similar to this on a rimfire benchrest rifle I built and it shot really well. I did it like this so it looks like a stock MK3 with the factory shroud. I didn't get it done until late this evening but I will be testing it out tomorrow to see how it shoots now...
