Made in China Sucks

As he types from his Chinese-made phone or keyboard. ;)

What's your point? If you are forced to do something it doesn't suck?

I'll say made in china sucks while I am taking antibiotics that were made in china.

It's really going to suck, not if, but when they turn the spigot off for medication and other life depending goods to show the world who is boss.

Ok,

So I have a clearer picture of how a sampling of responders think about cheap imports. I’m a bit surprised at the apparent hate level, but only because I was associating attitudes of shooters I know (mostly converted firearm type airgunners). I really have tried for decades to get Americans to begin building airguns here, but I’ve never been one to denigrate various airguns just because of where they originated. I still feel there is room for all, and have owned and enjoyed airguns made in dozens of countries (maybe every country they are known to have been made).

But I really got little about good new entries of modern US-made airguns, apparently because most feel they can’t be made here, or its not worth much effort.

But this thread quickly evolved toward what seems to be racist bashing, and I’m sad about seeing this in what seems to be a golden period of airgun variety and availability.

So, ok.

The American Airgun market is definitely full of variety in brands, this is a great thing. I have to look at all the positive that comes from products manufactured overseas, one of those is lower cost of machining. Sometimes the lower cost outcome is a poorly made product, sometimes it's more of a quality control problem. These cost are difficult to compete with here unless you put yourself in a position to sell high end products. To produce a true American made product you almost have to cater to those with money because labor, materials and many other factors cost so much more and get passed on to the consumer. People complain about the price yet continue to buy, in most cases not holding companies accountable for poor quality. These companies continue trying to save money by adding cheaper components, more plastic and inventing solutions to problems that never existed to justify a higher price. The new and improved can be sometimes just a cheaper version of the first model with more features to hide behind. Many manufactured Airguns from all over the world have parts made in Hong Kong...of course this isn't disclosed to the consumer who thinks they're buying a product entirely made in "fill in the blank" country. How much of a gun has to be manufactured in said country to acceptably justify slapping a Made in blank?

OP is the CCP mouthpiece

Come one guys. Can’t we stay away from the personal insults?

The guy made a point. If you don’t like it, say so, and give good, cogent reasons. This thread is getting really stupid/silly and has degenerated into political and conspiracy theory diatribes. Don’t contribute to making it more of a mess. This is an AIRGUN forum after all.

Let’s stick with the stuff we all love, AIRGUNS!

I think use of the word racist to describe people who are righteously angry about the country which was the origin of a virus that killed 750,000 of their fellow countrymen and over five million world wide is enormously tone deaf at the very least.

It seems to me that he should very easily understand why he's gotten the responses that he has gotten.

Perhaps if China had been willing to support a thorough and open investigation into the origination of that virus, his countrymen would have a more favorable opinion of China and the things they manufacture for export.

No insult intended to the OP.

i honestly feel like there were just a few individuals who went the xenophobic and/or conspiracy route. there was some good discussion, and some criticisms of china that i thought were relevant to the conversation and why things are manufactured less and less commonly here in the states. hope the few bad eggs dont ruin this place for ya!

i own airguns made in many countries, but prefer my airforce and evanix. parents came from where evanix are made, and i was born where airforce are :)

if i get lucky and/or decide to save up, the next one i get will probably be russian though

You are right, hence my removal of the assertion that the OP was deliberately trolling when he initiated the topic. That said calling people "racist" is calling names. Calling people "xenophobic" is calling names. You get what you foster.

Not trying to pick a fight. Frankly I think the topic should have been locked at birth.
