Tuning Magazines not advancing on New Marauder .22

I have a brand new Benjamin Marauder .22 and none of the magazines are advancing when I shoot.

I have very carefully followed the magazine loading instructions here:

I insert a full magazine. It clicks in. I cycle the bolt. Pellet goes in the chamber and bang. Pellet arrives at target.

I cycle the bolt again but the magazine sticks at #1 which is now empty. The magazine does not automatically cycle itself.

This has happened with two brand new mags. I am a newbie. This is a brand new rifle with new mags that have never cycled.

I have tested the magazines out of the gun by punching out a pellet and the magazines do advance as they are designed to do.

Has anyone had this problem? Am I doing something really stupid??
 
I had to fix a .22 prod magazine recently so have some suggestions. Just checking your loading: So you wind the cover clockwise to the right and it locks in place correct? The you begin loading and rotate the cover CCW to expose a new pellet slot. If you are in the loading position locked in place fully CW, when you load the first pellet and release the top freely, it should have enough spring tension to snap the cover nearly back in place? To me it's spring tension or binding going on. So: 

Check to see if the brass pin is in the groove on the top of the magazine.

Check to see if that top nut is too tight that it restricts the magazine cover from springing back. If it's tight it may bind. 

If you don't' have spring tension, check to see that the spring is engaged by looking at the hole on the back. My spring was bent a little and was out of the track (you could see it from above), so not enough spring tension to load properly. 

I'm sure others will chime in as well.

marauder mags are one of the best designs out there ... may not be it but two basic things - one, be sure the cover screw isnt tight and two, be sure you arnt winding the cover backwards to load ive seen rocket scientists on youtube doing that one .. once you got it theyll work flawless im sure barring using a funky pellet that is too long or a burr in the breach of the barrel or something ..

-- The brass pin seems to be placed in the mag correctly.

-- The clear cover seems to be spring loaded as it should be (if I push a pellet out using a sharp object the magazine will advance). Once in the gun, it does not advance. I place the mag correctly into the gun and it does "click" when seated.

Any other ideas?

loosen the screw slightly on the magazine, then make sure you are cocking the bolt all the way back, if it doesn't advance, it might be the barrel is to far back and putting to much pressure on the magazine, if that's the case loosen the 2 grub screws on the top of the receiver, just loosen enough to lightly move the barrel forward enough so when you slide a magazine in, it should slip in easily and lock, resecure the grub screws to about 10-15 inch pounds or good snug but not too tight.

I have a brand new Marauder that I bought direct from Crosman and I’m having the same problem. The first pellet fires correctly then the next doesn’t advance. If I pull the mag out it advances and I might get a couple more shots before I have to pull it out and put it back in. I figured it might need to break in but if you figure something else out let us know!

Had the same thing happen to a different brand and it was the pellet was not seating all the way into the magazine. I would have to use a thumbnail to push down slightly on the pellet to get it to seat all the way and not get stopped by the edges of the magazine. Noticed some pellets did that and some did not. Micro differences on the skirt of the pellet I would think.

I took my new .22 Marauder to the range today and found out that I was not pulling the bolt back far enough. The bolt pulls back and stops but it is spring loaded. Once it stops, one needs to add quite a bit of force to pull it ALL the way back (you will feel the spring tension). Then the mag will advance one notch. Then push the bolt forward, lock it down and fire away. Methinks some breaking in is required too.

Also, one of my mags was not functioning properly. It is always important to number your mags to keep track of each one's behavior.

sometimes you have to take the magazine apart and chamfer the rotating mag well so the pellets seat properly, I use a pen to push the pellets in all the way, make sure there is no burrs or debrie floating around in the magazine, and make sure you're not using pellets that are too big/long, regular Crosman's and JSB's should work fine, anything bigger than 18 grain might have a problem,

also if the hammer spring is too tight it will hamper the bolt travel, keeping it from cycling properly, try backing off the hammer spring adjustment.

as I mentioned before and as Scotty1 mentions, the barrel might be just a couple hundredths to far back, forcing the magazine to collapse on itself causing it to bind, 

here's something you might try, remove the center portion of the magazine, sand the back flat side slightly with fine grit sand paper, reassemble and test to see if that solves the problem.

if not.....

Loosen the 2 barrel retaining grub screws on the top of the receiver and insert the magazine so it has a loose snug fit then snug down the grub screws on the barrel, test the magazine's rotation and see if it has solved the problem, if the magazine rotates then you are good, if that doesn't solve the problem, send the gun back to Crosman for warranty, the barrel breech end may need to be machined.
