Maintenance Check - .22 Daystate Wolverine B Hi Lite (non-regulated)

Next on my maintenance check list was a .22 Daystate Wolverine B HiLite (non regulated) rifle. As I haven't had it more than a couple of months, I didn't expect the need to do much. This rifle has one of my original Hawke AirMax SF 30 IR 6-24x50 scopes on it - probably close to fifteen years old, and it remains as dependable as the day I purchased it. Carefully tested at 5 yard intervals and entered into Strelok Pro, comparing the actual testing with the Stelok calcs, this rifle is set to shoot utilizing click adjustments and does so with ease.

The barrel was nearly spotlessly clean inside but I ran a couple of patches through it anyway. I setup my rifles with the maximum amount of elevation possible to achieve using SportsMatch vertically adjustable rings so I can get the maximum amount of click adjustments out of my scopes.

The 16 gr AA Diablo Field bested about nine different pellets tested in this rifle. I shot 50 shots through it on the chrono and the maximum deviation was only 9 fps.

Testing on the indoor range at 18 yards, I think I may have shot the best 10 shot group I have ever shot at only .04" C-t-C.

Moving out to 83 yards in a 10 mph wind, the results were less than impressive, but more like what one would likely expect in such conditions shooting only a 16 gr pellet at 27 fpe.

The real surprise came moving back to 52 yards in the same wind conditions - again getting what I thought were incredible groups.

Bolt rifles often get a bad wrap. This rifle operates exceptionally smoothly, the trigger is near perfect, and the accuracy is phenomenal. Complimenting all of this is an unreal shot count.

It is back in the vault now and ready to go for another year.
