For my custom built FX Ranchero
Well, it’s a solid log, no recoil to talk about, and I am not bringing it to battle…. And actually, it’s a test so to say.Pretty, good work. I think I would put a hidden dowel down from inside the receiver area just behind the trigger opening through or well into the grip. Looking at the grain structure that area of the grip might be prone to breaking easy.
It is Morell tre (but not sure if that is correct translation), so I simply call it Cherry wood, and then everyone know what we are talking about. For the coloring/bust rising I have used a very, very strong coffee mix. After some layers of oil it will darken a bit, and then it is ready for polishing.very nice work , what kind of wood ? like the positioning in the grain .
I love the graining in the wood.
I wish I had the talent and tools to attempt such a project
oh various hand tools. Always starting with the inletting. Drilling the exact needed depths, and then chop out the wood and start outside when the metal parts are fitted to the inlet. The inletting is really the most challenging and time consuming part. The outside? Well, besides a grinder I use a hand rasp to form the stock before sanding with finer and finer paper. The rest is oiling and light, light fine sanding between layers before polishing. Bad English, so better put in some pics from a wildcat productions to clarify the process a bit. What did you use to shape and inlet it?
