Making the move to FX and starting with the Dreamline Tactical. Talk me out of it.

OK, I have done what I can with the mid priced airguns, they have given me fantastic results at close ranges but I want to get my groups down to 1MOA at 100 yards and I want to do this with the FX line. Cost is a factor and if I hear "Buy once, cry once" Ill.... (momma will never go for it.)

I'm Swedish so the FX is the only real choice, no BRO cock (dumbest name in the history of airguns) or EdGuns, so dont even bother with steering me away.

GO!

I'm very happy with my 3 FX Airguns (2 Dreamlines and a Crown)! The action on the Dreamline series is much lighter and smoother than the Crown, and power is comprable. I have a Dreamline Classic and a Tactical. Hammer Spring adjustment is much easier on the Tactical, it requires removing the stock on the Classic. Both are very accurate! I think you will be quite pleased witht eh Dreamline!

I'm not a fan of the Impact or Maverick but the Boss/Bobcat/Royale platform & the Streamline/Dreamline guns are GREAT. Won't try to talk you out of it because I think you'll be happy with it. Never owned one but have used both of the Stream/Dreamline guns & they're great shooters. FX's simpler guns are incredibly accurate. I'm not a fan of overly complicated bells & whistles guns. Good luck with whatever you decide upon.

I probably will regret answering but I am just going to shoot straight from my own personal experiences and say if it were me I would pick a Crown over the dreamline if my goal was 100 yard moa groups. This is just my honest opinion.

The dreamline series was not created as a 100 yard pcp they because of public response released a more powerful version in the power pup edition and people shooting slugs at the time but it was not intended as a long range iteration in the FX family line up. haha;)

You stated that cost was a factor so my practical choice to achieve that goal in the FX lineup would be (used or) a new crown vp edition. for around 1300.00 or so. Maybe I am biased lol I own crowns (mutiple) , a dreamline and multiple impacts so I personally just favor the dreamline for 60 and under and crown or impact for over that without pushing the pcp to hard or making it do something it wasn't designed for.

I hope maybe something in here helps you in a positive way and if not I wish the the very best and hey at least I tried haha.

I have an Impact M3 600mm .22. The rifle is very accurate, and it can be adjusted to whatever you want it to be. Changing calibers takes 3 minutes, my 100 yard groups with H&N Barracuda Match pellets is MOA and less dependent upon wind. If you plan on doing mods there are more options available than stars in the sky. So the downside of this rifle, or at least mine is that it has broken a lot. I just got mine back about a week ago and so far it’s working well, from what FX told me is that my rifle was a special case for all the problems it has had, and that I shouldn’t have any future problems. This may be true I guess time will tell. The moral of the story is if you get a good one it will do anything you ask from it. It’s very accurate and fun to shoot.

Thank you all for your honest opinions, the crown with the wood stock has no appeal to me, the tactical chassis would be OK but at $1800.00, its out of my league.

I love my wife more than I like airguns so Ill keep within our budget of a grand.

While I have all of you here; why is it that one FX gun would have better accuracy than another if the same barrel is being used?

I'm with you on the mid levels guns. They have their place and I'm going to get a high end gun next time around. My choice since I like traditional rifles, will be a dreamline in pepper laminate. 22 cal for the shorter action.

Only other I've considered is a daystate revere. My kral guns have scratched the tinkering itching enough and they're filling the bill til I get my FX or DS.

Traditional stocks are a hard no-go for me, my skin will not stretch due to my burn injury/skin grafts so I have to have a vertical grip. Love the look, cannot choot! ;)

It took me a while years back to justify spending big $$$ on an airgun. I can say that I've never begrudged a dime of it.
Go for it, far as we know, we only get one trip here on this planet.

I'm a fairly recent FX convert. I've owned Royales, a Boss, and several Impacts and Mavericks.
Quick rundown of issues
First Gen Royale in .177... leading issue
Royale in .25... stellar gun
Boss... Stellar
2 Mavericks... never an issue
Impact .35... no issue
Impact .22... one leak (was used gun) reseal and no issue
Impact .177... a possible issue. To be verified today *edit... all good. No issue

So all in all, they have been solid. These kind of 'talk me out of it' posts crack me up as at this point, ones mind is normally made up. But I get it. I've done similar posts. We all want to share excitement and hear about the guns that we intend to purchase. I dont think you'll be disappointed in the least.

Here we go, another fanboy 🙄 I would state my opinion on fx but every time I do my reply’s get deleted by moderators and I get a message from them how I should be nice, so what is wrong with edguns and brocock? I would take either one of them before I would purchase another fx.. just my 2 cents 😀 just go ahead and buy a Panthera because that’s all that people seem to be talking about now on here and everywhere else
