Mans best friend

I noticed while looking through the different topics a lot of avatars show Dogs, including mine.
We currently have 3 female Silver labs with 2 more pups coming home today. My girls are 2 years 1 1/2 and 1 year old.
The new additions to the family is 10 weeks old and came from the same breeder, boy my work is cut out for me🤪

Silver lab? Aren’t those Weimaraner?
Buckley is supposedly Lab/Weimar, such a good boy.

Buckley is a great looking boy, Both breeds have some similarities but the labs are generally heavier, thicker tails heavier coats, shorter snouts( most of the time) and usually not as tall. All of my family's Silvers came from the same breeder with AKC papers we have 2 males and 5 females.
I've never heard of a weimaraner hitting 150 pounds like our 2 boys😉

It's been about six months since my Mick puppy (Best I could tell, he was a Canaan mix with heavy red splotching), crossed the rainbow bridge.
Sure do miss my lil' stray that adopted me.
If you feel up to it you can always check out who's at the shelters. That would be my go-to. If I were to get another. Sorry for your loss. My rescue also recently passed. But it was her time, and she had a very good life. And I'm glad I was able to be with her when she went on her way.

Growing up, folks on the neighbor farm no dog but they had a pet pig with a wooden leg. I didn't really get having a pet pig in the house so I asked old Ken how it came to be the family pet. According to him, his best friend. Well, he proceded to tell me how one night there was a chimney fire in the house and that pig busted out of it's stall and broke their front door down and woke everybody up and saved them. Then he continued about another time he was plowing the side of a hill when the tractor tipped and the pig got out again and used it's nose to root out the soil and freed him. The tractor was crushing him and old Ken could hardly breathe. That's when they decided to move this special animal into the house to live with the family.
I commented what a blessing it must be to have such an animal but had to ask, How did your pig get a wooden leg? Old Ken just spurted it out "Son, you don't eat a good pig like that all at once!"

Oso Blanco, our 5 year old Great Pyrenees. Sweetest, gentlest dog ever. Until there’s a reason not to be. Only seen the switch flip 3 times. Wouldn’t want to be on the wrong end. Hurley, our 14 month old Standard Poodle. Also sweet. Gentle nowhere in her vocabulary. Maybe the most active, athletic dog I’ve ever had. Including Talulah the Catahoula. Definitely the most ADHD dog I’ve ever had. Our little ruffian princess. Spoiled rotten babies both.

My local Shelter will be the first stop, after things are back to normal. Unless another stray shows up to adopt me, again. 'Yote, the pup referenced earlier, was a shelter adoption. There's often something about a rescued mixed breed mutt that just, somehow, makes them the best pups. My opinion, YMMV. Sorry to hear of your loss as well.

All my dogs are rescues. Rescued from my daughters when they lose their minds LOL. Had to let my Shiba Inu go last month just 3 weeks shy of 17th bday. Rescued him as a pup from my oldest daughter when she was 19. Oso Blanco was rescued from my youngest daughter at 8 weeks when she was 19 LOL. Hurley was rescued from youngest daughter at 12 weeks when despite the fact she had a 5 month old baby and a Marine husband stationed in Australia she decided she needed a Std Poodle pup. Go figure. Had NO idea what we were getting into with a Poodle. I thought they just laid on the couch and ate bon bons.

It's been a moment... My two year old blue heeler got her first chance to sit and chill with me and the Dreamline. She sat right there, about 7 or 8 inches from the receiver the whole time I shot. Zero reaction to shooting. Pretty sure I can work with her, as she's proving trustworthy, if a bit headstrong. Anyway, wanted to bump this thread in honor of our most faithful friends.

That’s awesome. Beautiful dog. Waiting patiently for my Poodle pup to turn 2. Until we got Hurley my Catahoula had the award for most energetic, stubborn, ADHD dog I’d ever worked with LOL. She will sit and chill while I shoot. The fun starts when you stand up! :D

Catahoulas are amazing dogs! I had a Catahoula my wife and I picked up off the streets of New Orleans after Katrina. We brought him up north with us when we left, but he passed a few years ago. He was our last southern pet.
They are, lost mine 6 years ago and still miss her. I was shocked when we got a Standard Poodle and found how similar in intelligence, energy, and athleticism this dog is. Funny thing is, when we got our Pyrenees 5 years ago I told Kim I was just too old to train another Catahoula. Oops. This Poodle is a NEAT dog, love her. But, if you’ve had Heelers and Catahoulas you know what we’re dealing with.
