I feel a little silly but here goes ....how do tell the difference between a Gen 1 and Gen 2 Marauder ? Other than visual were there any engineering changes?

Trigger position changed (moved back on gen 2) and I believe the tigger mechanism itself is slightly different. I've heard other experienced shooters comment on how they prefer a gen 1 trigger over a gen 2- but I don't know the changes first hand. Bolt is reversible on gen 2.

I believe the Gen 2 has a stock de-ping device and supposedly gets a few more shots per fill.

The Gen 1 has a screw on the left side of the receiver that will release the bolt. That hole is not on the Gen 2.

Also, the bolts and receivers are not interchangeable, nor the rear caps as I recall. They all connect together somewhat differently. As for out-of-the box real world performance, if there is any difference between gen1 and gen2 it is negilgible, both generations require work to get the best efficiency out of them. Once that is done, they are pretty darn good guns, especially for the price point.
