marauder newbie here

hi all, as the title states, I'm a newbie. not to shooting or air rifles. I'm a newbie to PCP rifles.

i just purchased a bolt action marauder in .25 and I've been perusing around looking for info on upgrades.

trying to figure out what does what and whats available. along with your personal experiences with them.

the rifle is BONE STOCK. i have a OLD Redfield scope (from the 70's so i know it's a good scope) that i intend to use with the rifle. wait... is there a mod to add standard sights to it?

i don't have much standing in my way budget wise other than time but would like to keep the build as affordable as possible.

i'm looking for better performance/accuracy, elevated muzzle velocity and lower sound level for while hunting small game and varmints.

as i stated, i'm new to the PCP world so please don't bring in the pyrotechnics...

EDIT: i guess i'm asking for direction here. which mods to do and what they do, which should be done first. etcetterra.

Yep I agree with the other posters to just shoot it and see what you think before you consider changing things, it may be perfect for your intended use as is. Even if you don’t do anything to it I would still recommend you save up a few bucks and get a chronograph - it will provide a lot of great information such as where your sweet spot of air pressure is in your unregulated gun. There are some pretty low cost chrono’s out there, and I often see some decent deals here in the AGN classifieds.

your old redfield may or may not cut it for airguns,
dont get me wrong,
they are great old scopes for deer rifles and such,
but im guessing its a fixed parallax scope (100yds)

for airguns,
an adjustable parallax
(front adjustable objective/side parallax)
would suit you better.

when you take a 100yd fixed parallax scope and look through it at say 50yds,
your view isnt going to be as crisp and in focus as it is at 100,
plus youll find that at 50yds,
if you move your head around youll be able to watch the crosshairs move around on the target,
this will translate to point of impact shifts and larger groups.

adjustable parallax optics are an absolute need on airguns IMO.

now if your old redfield has an adjustable objective,
then all the stuff i just typed wasnt needed lol

as for the marauder,
don't adjust anything until you understand what the adjustment will do,
and get a chronograph (the fx chrono will save you time and hassle in the long run over conventional chronos)

but most of all, enjoy the ride

build? affordable ? .. id leave it alone theyre nice factory .. if you want to mod it set a goal for what you want and its generally not cheap ... id get a complete 'system' from a place like Hill airguns if you want to power mod it that way its gonna work good and your not tossing money into the wind .. short of that a depinger, again from hill get a decent one, is a nice single addition ...

Go on over to GTA and look up 40 - 40 tune, SSG, TSS and short heavy hammer spring. Check out Hillairgun and JSAR websites. Have the Impacts and a Maverick but my marauder is still a favorite, was my 1st pcp purchased. I installed reg, ssg opened the valve and ports and lighter valve spring. Just added a 600mm fx barrel to the marauder and thinking 4 of my 5 Impacts are going to go up for sale
