Marauder Pistol madness begins.

After searching for carbine/bullpup rifle for awhile, and being given a gift card for Wally World I decided to finally satisfy my itch and get a Marauder Pistol. It's not going to stay stock, that's for certain. I'm going to make it into a monster of sorts over the course of the next year.

So here are my plans. I'm going see about buying a spare airtube from Crosman to cut down so I can put a JDSairman regulated 13 cu in bottle on it. That's going to be combined with some sort of SSG just for curiosity sake. All of this so I can aim for a stock, or slightly higher than stock fpe, and trying for anywhere between 60 to 100 shots.

The only thing I'm fairly certain of is this. It ain't gonna be pretty once its all over with.

Teflon, I noticed the bottle build you did was getting about the fpe I was looking for. Was that only with the JSB monsters or did you have about that with other lighter pellets as well? My idea was I'd have the regulator set for around 1600psi, and if push came to shove I'd swap out the transfer port with one of the slightly larger ones from Hill Airguns. Not aiming for insane fpe, but anywhere between stock and 18fpe will do me.

My mistake was not making a large enough regulated chamber. I had to modify a few things like drill out the spacer and the JDS adapter itself to gain the extra cc of air. I also upped the regulator a bit and it was shooting @ about 20 fpe. IIRC, was doing 18.5 fpe when I installed a 15 inch Gaska barrel and used 18 gr JSBs. Longer, but tighter barrel - speeds dropped a bit.

I do have extensive internal mods though... valve, springs and porting. I listed them with pics in that thread I think. You might not need all of them or make them as massive if you give yourself enough of regulated chamber space.

It was a fun and relatively easy project, with the right basic tools and a bit of patience I think anyone can do it. When you cut the main tube - definitely give an extra half inch to an inch of regulated air space compared to what I did.

Good luck, looking forward to seeing your results!

P-rod arrived a day early. Didn't get a chance to clean and set it up until about 1am, but so far I'm liking how it shoulders. For now I have a 4-12x40 Hawke scope. It doesn't have an adjustable objective, and it uses a 30/30 reticle but its light enough to suit the P-rod for now. Still I'm beginning to question if the extra 1lb the bottle will add to it is going to be worth the shot count increase or not.

Seems like CP Domes are the way to go in mine as well right now. I got a shot string of about 22 usable shots using them with a high of 670fps in there. Its pretty well spot on with what I expected. In the next few days I'll get around to installing the SSG( or FFH as some call it), and with some luck those numbers will improve. On a side note, in order for me to get the accuracy I wanted out to 25yds and beyond I had to swap on my cheapo CVLife 6-24x50AO scope that I had laying around.

An update. Dropped in the FFH(still an SSG) that I picked up from another forum. I figured since there are no plastics involved on this one, and that no drilling had to be done it'd be relatively easy. Installation however didn't go smooth. Going by the directions for it posted online I discovered that it basically degassed the gun. This isn't a knock against the design, but rather the instructions. So I turned in the long screw until it no longer degassed the gun, and then checked to see if the new adjusting set screw in the back was going to move. Again it degassed so a few more turns were needed on the long screw to get it at a point I felt comfortable before beginning the tune. While I liked the idea of the manufacturer providing red Loctite on the long screw and set screw, there was just to much on the long screw to adjust it in far enough.

Things I've noticed already. The gun produces less noise when fired. That being said you can now tell the gun doesn't have a depinger. Take away that ping and it'd be somewhere between .22 Marauder, and .25 marauder quiet. I won't know how it performs shot count wise until later tonight.

After doing just about everything I could to get the new setup to work I could only get a maximum of 630 to 640fps with CP Domes. Given that I've seen stock Prods coming in at the 670fps it was close, but not what I wanted. While the efficiency was there for the most part I'm going to guess that my best results are going to come from a good regulated setup. So now its back to the drawing board and retuning to where it was when it was stock.
