Tuning Marauder sticky fill valve

Have a pretty new marauder here... the fill valve does work, but it's very sticky on closing. Opens okay on fill, but hates to close unless I can open the bleed VERY fast. In fact, I cannot fill it off my air tank since it has a push button bleed valve instead of the screw valve like on the nomad compressor, which does bleed OK if done really fast. Simply can't bleed fast enough with the push button I think. Filling off the tank then bleeding simply drains the hose and gun reservoir every time when I press the button. Tried stop and start as well, no change. The airforce guns do not have the same issue for me.

I replaced the fill valve once, but new crossman valve does the same thing. Oiled both, disassembled and cleaned both, no change. My friend has the same gun, but it seems to not have the issue. Ive filled it off my tank and no issue.

Any ideas?




 
Correct, the valve where you fill the rifle at the end if the reservoir. The check valve does not close unless you hit it hard on the hose bleed, other rifles here don't seem to be as stubborn.

Crossman sent a new fill valve, they both act the same. I cannot see a problem with either.

No, not called again since I figured it's a "sticky valve" issue and was hoping we could figure it out haha.

Friend sent me an old marauder to fix with the same problem. Havent take it apart yet but your description makes me think the filter is dirty and doesnt allow enough pressure drop fast enough to seal. Never had this issue with paintball tanks but they dont have the sintered filter. Will update when I get his apart.

The oring change sounds like good advice, I think you're on to something there.

Everything slides properly when lubed, but it is indeed harder to close than open with my hand and a punch.

I will also give Crossman a call again. They did send me a new fill nipple with check, but the problem persists with both valves. A new end piece for the air tube could be worth a try too if they'll send.

I will see if I can find a few if those orings, swap it in after holidays and report back. Thanks a bunch!

Redbullitt - This won't help fix your fill valve but it will allow you to fill your gun and keep on shooting, bad valve and all.

I have a Brocock Bantam and it has a poorly engineered fill valve. From time to time it tears up the O ring inside the valve and will vent all the air from the bottle once the release valve on my compressor is opened. An easy? fix, just replace the O ring but its a pain when I am out shooting.

My temp solution is this:

A foster female quick fill adaptor and a foster male one way valve. I just plug it on the gun and fill as normal. When I get home I drain the bottle, remove this unit and repair the O ring.

Something everone should carry, just in case.

My permanent solution is: I do have the new redesigned Brocock valve on the way.

Swapped 2 different orings into both valves, 70 duro and a 90. Both are sticky even by hand moving them closed, but they open easily. Much harder to close than ANY other here. No issue with fx crown and several airforce rifles, or my buddy's marauder.

Soo, I'm basically out if ideas here aside from the fIll fitting bandaid above. I do appreciate that very much! I am waiting on a new non Crossman fill fitting/valve I figured that's my last thing to try. 

I may have to send it to Crossman and hope they take care of it.
