Marauder tank extension and/or regulator?

I love my .25 Marauder. My only complaint is that it sucks air at an unbelievable rate. I get, at best, 16 shots. That's on par for what they state in the specs, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy with that. My thoughts are that I can either add more air, or use it more efficiently...or maybe both. I've found that Talon Tunes sells a tank extension. And I found a Marauder regulator. Are there other options that I'm missing? Are there other regulators available?

Be careful. Its a slippery slope once you start moding it! I have $400. Into mine in aftermarket parts. Just sayin. Its easy to turn a Mrod into a $1000. gun if you're not careful.
Mine is a .22 regulated and puts out 39 fpe and gets about the same number of shots. I realize that if I want power its going to cost some air. The air tube extension will only give you a couple 3-4 extra shots from what I understand, plus adds a pound of steel to the front of the gun. Huma makes a dedicated. .25 regulator. That's what I have in my .22 but it won't really give anymore shots, just make the shot string more consistent.

30cal is spot on about the regs and extensions. A .25 reg will not increase shot count, just keep a lower ES for the same 16 shots with a reg. I have an extension on one .25 and it gains me maybe 2 shots, but it is a 70fpe gun. What Ted installed is not a WAR hammer. It was an HDD which in my experience is worthless and a sales gimmick. The WAR hammer will gain shots, but it is very expensive and hard to find in stock. I get 20 shots out of my .25 at 53fpe due to a WAR valve and hammer. When setup correctly, the WAR hammer will gain you shots, but it is over $100. I love the marauder platform and I know how to turn them into guns that will shoot as well as most of the highend guns, so I have no problem dropping tons of cash on them. But, I would advise against it as you will have zero resale value unless you get lucky and find someone wanting a custom mrod that is wiling to pay for it. Just my 2cents.

"ztirffritz"I've read mixed reviews of that product. Some people swear by it. Others have said it either did nothing or made things worse. I watched the video where Ted installed one. It seemed easy enough, but I still think a regulator or reservoir extension is first on the list for me.
Was that the no bounce hammer or the Debounce device? They are very different approaches to the same problem.

I looked into extending my shot count a while back, before the reorganization of this site. It was just after the Huma regulator give away. I posted asking if anyone had installed a reg on a Gen 1. Bstaley replied that a reg would help in 177 and 22 but not so much in a 25. That is the fellow who developed the oring mod and knows more about pcp guns than I ever will so I took his advice and just kept on shooting. I did the oring mod early on and got a good flat shot curve but 16 shots with an extream spread of 40 fps is about all I get. In honesty I have not done extensive testing, just air up and shoot.

About the HDD from AoA. Some like it but I have seen many posts where people have been very disappointed. You might try the oring mod. After reading on this for nearly two years I think the route is to become very familiar with the adjustments and do a methodical tune, keeping detailed records, using a good chronograph. Or spending the $ for a full professional tune.

I have a new Gen 2 .25 with the AOA Gen 2 HDD. I get at least 32 good shoots out of it.
All other settings are factory, it also reduced the mechanical noise it is now quieter
than my .22 Daystate Regal XL.
I would say Ted's string print out is right on the money.
I need notice it requires a little more effort cocking after the mod but still no more than
the regal. Also note that I've only put about 450-500 pellets through it.
The new HDD may be a little better designed than the older model, it is easier and quicker
to put in.

"30cal"Npunk42 I have not found that to be the case. There is a way to tune the refill time also. The time it takes to cock the gun and settle down for the next shot seems to be enough time for the regulator to stabilize.

Thanks, I think I read that in some of the documentation the distribute with the regulator. Thanks for clearing that up, it was an issue for me. I guess I'll be getting one soon.

I have 2 mrods, .177 and .25 both are regulated and the .25 has an res extension as well, honestly it all depends on your tune and what you are using it for. I have shot hundreds of stings and decided to go with a little less power and a tighter ES with the reg, yes you can get a tight ES with a ton of power but over 8 or so shots, I get around 30 shots just over 800 fps with .25 kings but one hole at 50 all day. If I had to go without one of the mods I would keep the regulator. Just my opinion.. Best of luck to you with whatever you choose, but if you can go with both (go for it) :)
