Weather permitting, the next TEXtreme Field Target match is Saturday, March 5 at Ranchito Robinson; near Waco, about four miles from the Lake Whitney dam. Pre-match feedback suggests another great turn-out, including contingents from Oklahoma and Arizona. Per usual, real rains, very muddy, or frigid condition forecasts can cause a match cancellation. That being the case, shooters should follow weather forecasts as the match date approaches, and feel free to communicate with me if in doubt.
This match will award the same $850 total dollar amount in Airguns Of Arizona gift certificates as last match. However, that bounty might be spread over more places than three (depending on attendance). MANY THANKS AIRGUNS OF ARIZONA!
The shooters meeting will start at noon, and will be shorter than the last one due to less orientation to TFT rules virtue of shifting responsibility to KNOW THE RULES to each shooter. Entering the match signifies agreement to abide by the rules. A copy of the latest evolution of the TFT rules-set is attached below.
This will be a 48 shot match, with a new twist. Shooters will take three shots at each of two targets per lane, times eight lanes of two targets each. To help prepare shooters contesting the (brand new) 2022 Extreme Field Target National Grand Prix series, this match we’ll impose a time limit of four minutes at each lane to take six shots. Any shot(s) not taken before time expires will score zero (0) on the score-card. That might rush some shooters accustomed to taking plenty of time to break each shot.
On a happier note, I believe every target is functioning well enough to fall to good paddle hits of at least 8 foot-pounds of .22 (or more), but not fall to face-plate hits from my 90 foot-pound .30 caliber. So although I’ve decided against a reduced power class or division as too diluting of the prize list, shooters choosing to use less powerful guns can be confident the targets will function correctly with .22 or larger caliber guns producing at least 20 foot pounds of muzzle energy.
For various reasons, a few of our targets have been moved. Interestingly, almost all that moved got farther. For instance the lane 6 coyote now stands closer to the EFT limit of 100 yards (at 97). Consequently, the overall course difficulty increased a bit; the standing lane (4), more than a little bit. It will be more of a “separator” lane than before. However, now TEXtreme Field Target has a brand-new Trigger Stick bi-pod for the standing lane, courtesy of Jim Clarke. MANY THANKS JIM!
By the way, the next, June 4 TFT match will be our 2022 EFT Grand Prix event. That being so, it will boast not only a richer prize list, but 2022 Grand Prix points.
The June match will also likely include a TEXtreme Pistol Field Target match, with targets to 55 yards. Pistol rules will be the same as AAFTA Hunter Pistol class rules, but with the following exceptions. A 20 foot-pound maximum muzzle energy (rather than 12 FP); high magnification scopes ARE allowed, but must be set no higher than 12X; and there will be only one class rather than two (there will be no class disallowing bipods). I’d appreciate it if anyone interested in the pistol TFT match would let me know.
See Y’all Soon,
