one heck of a turn out, now if you could only pick non-holiday weekends....or at least Sunday instead of Saturday
great atmosphere and camaraderie - well done
Stephan
This was our first match and was hosted as part of the newly formed New England Field Target League. For the past year, our new group of "Marlboro Airgunners" has been working with a hesitant membership at the Marlboro Fish & Game in an effort to educate them about airguns, field target shooting, and the benefits offered to the club by embracing a new activity for the membership. It took us nearly a year to convince the club that airguns were compatible with firearms on the range and that we could benifit the club by attracting new members and provide alternate activities to other members. With that understanding, we were able to convince the Board to permit us to host two FT matches this year. However, due the the limited amount of available space at the club and a calendar full of other scheduled activities, we were offered two unused available dates on the club's archery range, both being Saturdays during Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Although not optimal, we took what we could get.

Our goal for this season is to demonstrate the viability of airgunning and FT matches at the club, build trust with the membership, and hopefully to negotiate up to four match dates next season, perhaps on a mixture of Saturdays and Sundays. Through the support offered by the 24 shooters in attendance and the apparent great start to the New England Field Target League, we should be well on our way to achieving our goals for the 2023 season. I want to thank you and the rest of the folks that attended the match and promise to do an even better job with of next match on Saturday, September 2nd.

PS: I have edited the match report to reflect Karen's correct score as requested! My apologies! ;-)

Hello Jim - I have come to understand hesitancy about air gunners at certain clubs, mixed in with archery divisions at same. I don;t understand it, but I realize it is a common thread among clubs.
My request was only for the drive on holiday weekends from the NYC area. We plan to come back for the season finale - and I won't complain about the drive. Karen says thanks.

Huge Thanks to you and Karen for attending! I always look forward to shooting with both of you. We've already established our 2024 match dates. 3 matches, all on Sunday, no holidays. See you soon.
