MRA Match Report for 4/29/2023 Match Location at the club Shotgun Range (map) Woods Course
It was a perfect day, the weather was 52 degrees, cloudy a little breezy with 5 - 11 mph gusts and swirling conditions. This was a 68-shot match with 17 lanes including 1 standing lane and 1 kneeling lane. Sight-in began at 8:00 - 10:00 am, I had been locked out o the clubhouse where I keep the paint and strings so I didn’t get the course repairs and painting started until 8:15 am, there were several broken strings to be found and repaired. After that, we had a brief safety meeting and got to the lanes. We had a late start with the last of us finishing up around 2 pm. We had 14 competitors including myself, which worked out well. I was able to spread each squad, 2 lanes apart to keep things moving.
Once out on the lanes, everything seemed to move along without any problems or issues. The wind was tricky and not always easy to predict switching direction from time to time. We had the WFTFSspringers seemed to know what to do coming out with the top scores for the match Matt Brackett with an impressive 61/68 followed by Leo Gonzales with a 59/68 excellent shooting you guys!! With the next best scorers as a tie 52/68 Chaz DiCapua and myself 52/68 I managed to shoot an entire lane out of order and got my first goose egg in a while, lol. With that, we had the next batch of 3-way tie 51/68 Jim Wheeler shooting Hunter Springer and Calvin Cieslak, and Gerard O’Toole with 51/68. Once again another successful shoot over at Massachusetts Rifle Association, a BIG thank you to all that came out to shoot I really appreciate the attendance. The tie-breakers are decided by the most knockdowns on forced position lanes.
