Eight shooters attended Saturday’s match held on a crisp fall day. Temps were in the low 50s, starting with partial overcast and intermittent sun later in the day, but with wind guests of 10-15 mph and faster throughout the day this was a challenging course. The 60 shot match, setup by Paolo, had 8 lanes with three targets shot twice, and four lanes with three targets shot once. Two of the three target lanes were forced offhand position, and two were fast lanes with two minutes allowed to acquire and hit targets. Although the average course difficulty was 27T, for any shot beyond 20 yards it was necessary to use some form of Kentucky Windage and the match scores illustrate the shooters varying skills in adjusting for wind. Experience showed with Brian Van Liew and Hector Medina achieving impressive scores for the conditions. John Scherer, a first time FT shooter, shot an amazing score of 26 points, using a rifle and scope borrowed from Ted Andro with which he had less than 10 mins experience on the sight in range before the match started. Mark Mayer acted as match director and grill master for our traditional post match BBQ.
