Testing Velocity's effect on accuracy with the new Smooth Twist X barrel at 100 Yards. Wind from the left, shifting pellets 2" right. I used the red dot in the center of the gong as an aim point and then dialled the turrets to offset the POI for each group.
After each group, I marked the shots with a blue pen so that I wouldn't mix them up in the event of them crossing over. Two groups are 5 shots, two are 6 shots.
The first two groups (on the right) were both around 1.3", and the second two groups, at a slightly higher velocity, were 1.15" and 0.779" respectively...
But the vertical spread blew my mind! .327" on the last group! In no wind, this would have surely been a half MOA group, possibly even smaller!
ALSO, note the diagonal nature of the groups. This is because of the magnus effect - Crosswinds from the left cause pellets on this left twist barrel to shift UP. This is the OPPOSITE of what you'd see on a bullet. Pellets behave differently. This effect will be worse with a faster twist - Not good for competitions.
No mention of which pellet he used unfortunately.
