Tuning Maurader hammer spring adjustment

Hello, I bought a used maurader that had been upgraded and tuned. I want to play with the hammer spring tension but the adjustment seems to be harder than it should be to adjust. It appears that the previous owner drilled and tapped a separate hole for a "locking" grub screw. I backed it out quite a bit but the hammer spring adjustment still seems to be too tight and I don't want to force it. Anyone else ever see a separate grub screw added like this? I don't think it is factory, is it?

Take that grub screw out completely and see if that makes a difference. When you buy used, you take the risk that the previous owner(s) really screwed something up.

Not saying that happened here, but I am pretty sure that grub screw is not OEM, although I don't own nor have I even shot a Marauder. Perhaps the previous owner(s) also put LockTite on the hammer spring adjusting nut/screw? If that is the case, you may have to heat the hammer spring adjustment to loosen it. Just taking a WAG, so proceed with caution! (smile)

Good luck!

Thanks!! I will follow your advice! I really don't need to mess with it as it will give about four full mags of jsb 25.39 at 860fps. However, it is more accurate with the jsb 33.95 and I want to speed them up some. It has a huma regulator and a hill valve upgrades.

4 full mags at 42fpe, leave it alone.

Nope not stock at all, download the pdf's & have a glance. A stock marauder hammer adjustments are done with 2 different size allen's inserted into the hole your showing has a bolt in it blocking your access. Some hdd type thing seems likely.

Your number are'nt going to get better overall. A touch late but perhaps an email to the previous owner so you know everything that's been done, or just have fun learning but your tune is pretty darn good right now.

What John said makes sense to me.

You have a Marauder that has had the SSG modification added.

This modification is in fact two hammer springs that work in concert with each other to completely stop hammer bounce increasing available shots.

I believe a shooter from Canada was the first to come up with it and then it was quickly adopted by shooters in the USA.

Send a pm to MOTORHEAD and can explain the function further..

if you feel confident enough, remove the rear hammer plug, de-cock the gun, loosen and remove the 2 rear hex head screws from the breech and remove the back trigger housing screw, that should allow the hammer plug to be removed, carefully remove the hammer plug, then check out what has been done to it, make sure not to lose any springs, if you need to heat it, it will be off the gun and won't present a problem to the internals of the gun.
