Tuning Maverick .22 cal sniper wrong hammer weight

If you purchase a Maverick .22 cal sniper and wonder why you lost power after raising the regulator to 150bar. It’s because some of the .22 cal version were shipped with a lighter hammer weight. I found out after raising my regulator pressure to 150bar and trying to shoot slug. I ended up with slugs stuck in the barrel twice. Power wheel and Allen screw was maxed out properly.

Called FX and they won’t just send me a hammer weight. I had to purchase it even though they advertise you can shot slugs after adjusting the regulator pressure and power setting. This is very disappointing after spending $1,700 and FX wants to charge you for a hammer weight. FX has the hammer weight in stock but can’t even give you a shipping date after purchasing it.

The hammer weight is the same one on the Dreamline .30 cal. Part number 17003.

There’s not doubt that FX rifles are awesome. This is the forth one that I’ve purchased. The way FX handled this situation is not like them. I’m not even sure if my superior liner is still any good because I had to force the slugs out with a cleaning rod. Most Maverick buyers just received their rifle. We’ll see how FX responses to them when the same calls come in.

I will say that FX at least responds here, that's better than most. BTW I recently shot an FX Impact .30 and LOVED IT.

Fx only responds because 1 they are sponsors here and 2 this is a Fx fan forum. They will respond but that's it no action will be taken by them. It's all to seem genuine but its all a gimmick to keep to spending money! Good luck

I was trying and hoping for optimism and hoping it wasn't lip service. Like I said the FX Impact .30 I shot was an awesome piece and hopefully I can shoot it again. Some of the products seem to generate a lot of posts around problems. I guess that could be explained by the fact that there are many FX enthusiasts here. I do not own one but may some day.

The stuck slug issue and cleaning rod would seem to be the major issue. You had no choice.

I’m sorry but I must disagree. My new impact had a problem with the hammer spring adjustment screw backing out even after using blue locktite. The adjustment screw fit too loose and probably had lube on the threads. FX sent me the three parts needed to replace the unit that day at no cost to me. I could not have received better or faster service. If FX believes the wrong part was installed at the factory I’m pretty sure they will supply the part at no expense to you.

FX has sent me parts to repair my Impact too. In this case it was different and I was quite surprised.

FX was the one who told me that some of the .22 cal Maverick snipers were shipped from Sweden with lighter hammer weight. My intention to buy a Sniper version wasn’t to shoot pellets. I would of bought the compact version if pellet was going to be my choice.

I spoke with two different employees at FX and they both insisted that the owner will have to purchase the heavier hammer weight.

I would take ii up with the vendor-dealer you purchased the gun from because its not as advertised and you are the consumer. Have them send you a shipping label to send it back for FREE with the slug still stuck in the barrel. Don't risk damaging the liner yourself have their professionals replace it with a brand new gun. At least that won't cost YOU $5.00.

Have them test it specifically shooting slugs in your brand new replacement before sending to you.

I’m curious to hear a little more detail on how you get a slug stuck @ 150 bar on any Fx Airgun? Maybe the gauges are off by 30 bar or so? Anyway, how about more detail or are you just wanting the bigger hammer? Thanks

When you have 150bar of pressure pushing against the valve and not enough hammer weight to push it open. This will cause the valve to barely open and release only a small amount of air the push the slug. I’ve ordered a new hammer weight but have no idea when it will be in.

There's the gun as designed, then there's the mods air gunners want to do to them. Sounds like a fair deal to me, but I reserved the right to be wrong.

My first call to FX support was impressive. A super nice tech on the other end took the time to asked me what I was up to. Then he redirected me to a better solution, then corrected some part numbers I gave him. He then said my total order would be 50% off for my troubles with a stripped screw I stripped out. He saved me all kinds of delays, troubles and money. Now that's some good service! Way to go FX!

From FX first post on the Maverick:

“FX Maverick owners also have the options of picking up the FX Maverick Slug Power Kit. This kit includes a heavier hammer and slug pin probes that allow for even more power and velocities for heavier slugs.”

It appears they were up front and honest about those that wanted additional power from their new Mavericks. The Impact would have done the same thing if you had made those same adjustments to a stock gun. It appears they are charging you because it’s an Optional part...? Guys on here will be shocked that Centercut is sticking up for FX, but fair is fair...

I would agree with FX if they informed the buyers to not shoot slugs without their slugs kit. There’s also videos of well known FX users stating that the Maverick comes with a Superior liner and you can shoot light weight slugs just by adjusting the regulator and HS.
