Maverick expectations

I have had a Maverick for about a month. 700mm sniper in .30. It has had quite a few issues with POI shift and just minor things. Screw fell out of the cocking mechanism and had to send it back to get it set in the correct spot again. Barrel liner was stuck and had to send it back in order to have it where the liner can be removed at home. That being said when it has been shooting well it has been an absolutely amazing to me. My last 14 5 shot groups at 47 yards averaged .26 inch CTC. I’m always a bit nervous to shoot it thought just waiting for something to go wrong. The barrel shroud has loosened a few times and it seems like every time I tighten it back down it changes the POI a bit and I have to re zero. The amount of barrel flex concerns me, just seems like it is causing some of my issues with repeatability. Maybe I just need to worry less and shoot more. Been through about 500 pellets so far. I have done a lot of shooting over the years, and it has been both my most enjoyable and most frustrating experience in shooting so far.

I had a few screws loosen on my Maverick VP .30cal also. I went through the gun and Loctite down the rest of the screws and have been working fine since. I also could not remove my liner, as I was trying to install a carbon fiber stiffener, and I just gave up, because the gun shoots so accurately that it's not even necessary.

Not an FX Fanboy either, but my goodness this thing makes me shoot like a pro compared to my other rifles. FYI, I don't baby guns. I put them to use from the range, to the window sill to woodswalking. I made some mods to the gun so I can use a 2-point Magpul sling.

Like the sling! Definitely makes it more handy in the woods

I used to have two Mavericks and now have one. No problem with the one I sold, I just liked the one I kept better and one of them had to go to make room for an M3.
Had a few loose screw issues. Mostly the linkage between the cocking lever and operating rod. Don’t care what anybody says, blue Locktite those dudes. You will only regret not doing it.
I would not part with my Compact 25 for any reason. Extremely accurate, handles great in the field and once I got the linkage issue resolved trouble free, never has lost POI and is a ton of fun to shoot.

Thanks for the reply, good hear others experience. Did the carbon liner help accuracy at all?
Honestly, I can't say if the liner did a darn thing on my VP .25 or not, the gun outshoots the loose screw holding it. ZERO issues with mine, barring a funky front reg that had a bad o-ring, easily solved. Now my pre-loved Sniper .25 is another matter, not sure if the previous owner(s) messed with it too much or what's going on but I'm slowly getting it sorted out.

As long as we are talking about Mavericks and don't mean to hijack the thread. My VP the charging handle has absolutely zero wiggle and is smooth as silk, now my Sniper on the other hand, the thing flops around like somethings loose but....I CAN'T find anything wrong, everything measures the same to .0001" Ideas? FX offered to send me a handful of parts so not a big deal there.
