Maverick power wheel. Is it possible to put the power wheel back on in the wrong position?

Hi guys,
Is it possible to replace the power wheel in the wrong position?
Took mine off and I’m not sure I’ve put it back on the same setting.
Am I right in thinking that if you put it on “ adjust “ and insert the Allen key that adjusts the internal hammer spring , surely if these two line up it’s got to be right ?

The answer to your question is...no. The 3mm ball goes in the little hole with the spring. Use a bit of grease to make sure you don't spend 2 hrs looing for it. It matter not one wit from that point on if you do it by putting in that hole first or in the power wheel. I'd recommend using dial calipers to measure the over all height of the ISA, FX recommends 19.3mm. I use 20.34. Make sure the machine screw on the side is 'snug'. There is a little Delrin piece in there to hold the adjustor screw from moving. Oh, a bit of grease on the inside of the wheel makes it nice and smooth.

So this most likely be why when i have my wheel set to Adjust, my Mav .22 runs at 950fps with my jsb 25g knockouts and on wheel 7 runs a dog 840ish fps ( measured my isa at 21.3mm ( 1st reg 144+- / 2de reg 110+-) thought i was going insane
Insanity is part of having a PCP, they call it a benefit. I 'retuned' my Maverick compact .22, note it was a Sniper .25. Prior to the 'retune' I was easily able to perk along well into the high 900's. NOW, I can barely get into the mid 890's. Back to the basics. now that I finally got my compressor functional and I can continue the trek down the rabbit hole.

Haha yes ( most ppl thing im insane to be fair) , its just a strange one , but testing will continue as a power wheel is working in reverse :p. new to the FX brand but i still enjoy my old bsa buccaneer se 22. i have created custom transfer ports ( 3d printed) to really customize her to what's needed and boy o boy 230m of accuracy on a old pcp like that is actually fun.

I believe the inverse came about with the "going over ISA recommended length" and the slug kit upgrade, based on your description because the "adjust" position would be the accurate 19-20mm vs the location 7 that is now at 21.3. so back to testing the shorter length.

When I went too long mine wouldn't cock BUT, there were some other issues that may have played in to that, the block on the cocking lever wasn't adjusted properly, as I found out later. Interesting that the power wheel is working reverse, it's nothing more than a ramp applying more spring tension as you go up. Make sure that the set screw on the side of the Internal Hammer Spring adjuster is 'snug' against the setting screw, they do work loose. There is a little delron piece in there to allow you to still move the set screw externally.

Your tune is way out. When the hammer wheel works backwards you ether need to raise your reg or lower your hammer spring
Yea noticed its over. its was at the stock "Fresh" level from factory. ran the regs at 170/140 and she worked ( shot count didn't 🤣 ) so i lowered the regs and the reverse stated happening so going to tighten it later this morning .... i need more coffee...2:38am... but yea thanks 18.13 🖖

Yeah, I started playing with that today, interesting the dynamics going on. Front is 135, #2 rear is 91.23, HSA is 19.86mm, PWS set to 5, Speed 887, using Air Arms Diablo 16g. FINALLY getting dime size groups with pellets bent to H at 30 yards. Reasonable SD, don't really much care as long as the pellets go where they should.

So just a small update , the power wheel no longer works backwards 🤣

With HSA <19.5 and regs (144+-/110+-) getting a 917fps on the jsb 25g slugs ( slug port , slug liner) and the adjust port is now lower at 850fps.
believe i can and will tune it a bit more in future for 150yards+ accuracy in the next week. weather depending

Back to tweaking, not twerking, too old for that nonsense. The stars aligned, the moon was in the proper phase...didn't touch the front reg, kept tweaking the #2, got it up to 130psi and things steadied down, but way too fast, so....bounced back and forth between the reg and the HSA, somewhere the aforementioned alignment happened. 100 psi, PW 5, HSA 19.52mm 927 average with a spread of 9, SD of 3.4, over 3 14 round mags, Total rounds starting at 270 bar...90+, stopped at 120 bar, deformed pellets didn't matter that much dime size groups at 30 yards. PW did its thing properly. For giggles I tried some FX 22GR slugs, not bad but nothing to write home about. 28 shots, 30 yards, top left is me twitching. Now, officially I'm not messing with this gun. If I want to shoot slugs I'll build up a gun strictly for it.

Now for the real fun, I wanted to shoot some 22gr FX Hybrid slugs, cranked up the power wheel to 7, got low 830, started increasing the #2 reg, was at 130 which was the #1 reg setting so I gave #1 a touch more, got to about 890 or so, didn't want to put the barrel on slug mode so, then I stared backing it down for the 18.1's hit 108-110 and hole e WTH, 20 shots with a spread of 7 for a SD of 1.5. at 915fps, nice and snug groups Now for the really interesting part, I never drained the air out of the gun, I would fire then quickly turn the #2 down a little, fire turn, fire turn, I've tried this a few times and so far, so good, YMMV on the disaster that may follow, I've got enough o-rings to rebuild 10 guns so, what the heck, live on the edge I say.

Yea , that reg isn't going to like that for too long

Nice power you have and if you did swap to slug power its gonna flow like hot butter

Mechanically I think the reg will be fine, now the o-rings may complain but as I said, I've got a lot of them. I'm willing to make the sacrafice for the greater good. Now with a base line....I can return safely. I've played with the slug power when it was a .25. Even without doing that it's pretty good but in the chase for ever more I'm going to give it a try, it'll also give me a chance to see how much the POI changes by rotating the barrel. We should get a pool going.
