FX Maverick question

Hello everyone,

I finally got around to getting myself my first Fx gun!! It’s a sniper version in 30 cal. Beautiful gun. This is also my first gun that’s regulated. After reading the handbook I can see that I have my work cut out for me. I am
Looking forward to tinkering with the hammer spring and regulators in the future.

So the question I have rn is, this sniper version has a 700mm barrel with a 580cc carbon fiber tank, if I wanted to switch the barrel to a 500mm (compact) will I still get the same shot count as I would with the larger barrel. I plan on keeping the 580cc tank on it. I just would like to shorten this setup a bit without losing shot count because 90 shots in 30 cal is amazing. Any input is appreciated thanks!

With a 500mm barrel and a 580cc tank, there won't be much/any clearance for a moderator. You would need to find a moderator that is about the same diameter as the barrel shroud. I figure you already knew this or are not going to use a moderator (not everyone needs one). I just wanted to make sure you gave it some thought before ordering a 500mm barrel. Cheers.

Why don’t you go to a 600mm barrel? Being a bullpup the 600m is still pretty short. Also you can develop power pretty efficiently and if you have a bug to shoot slugs the 600 will do it much easier than a 500 will.
I have Maverick with a 25 cal 500mm barrel, a 22 cal 500mm barrel and a 600 22 barrel. The 600 is my favorite. It loves FX 25.4 gr pellets and the RMR 22 cal slugs

You know I was actually considering the 600 as well. Still haven’t decided but I will most def look into it! Thanks!

My compact 30Cal is pretty loud, so you will want as much help as possible. I have a Koi that works ok, but to my ears the Huggetts sound a little quieter than a comparable Donny. The Huggett Snipe is a good option, and they are on clearance at Utah. I have one on my 25Cal and it sounds better than my Sumo.

I have only had 1 700mm barrel inn all my dawdling with air guns. Proved too long. I can get all the power I want out of a 600mm when shooting slugs. However, I don’t shoot the heavy for caliber slugs and that is where the 700 shines.
