Tuning Maverick Sniper barrel issue

My .22 Maverick compact was tuned to shoot JSB18.13gr pellets at about 880fps on PW7. Now when I put the Sniper barrel on in the Slug side, my power goes way down hitting the ground in front of even a 30 yard target. Im trying to shoot a 20gr javelin Slug. I noticed the porting on the Sniper barrel is way smaller than the compact barrel-attached photos. So what might be happening? My regs are 135/110.

Top barrel is the sniper. Tried turning PW Down thinking I had too much hammer with sniper barrel but had even less power. Hammer weight is 7gr oem as is the rest of the gun. Gun originally sold in compact version.

Jasmlowe,

Will try those reg settings. Do you know how far out is your hsa? Know how to read the PW. Barrel/breach is air tight. Found that out the hard way when I got a Slug stuck in her. When I opened breach air hissed out. Also, no air is coming out anywhere around the action when it's fired. Now, about the Sniper barrel, it definitely is an issue with the transfer ports. As you can see by the photo. The barrel was bought in July, so it should have had the new porting not the high low porting. Suspect this was laying around at the dealer and might seen a chance to unload it. These are premium rifles and premium parts and they should be gone over with a fine tooth comb for quality by both the mfg and the dealer that sales it. Will follow up with FX tomorrow. Hopefully this will be resolved quickly and to my satisfaction.

So I not only get a barrel that has God knows what kind of ports in it, but a hammer weight for a .177 in my .22. Almost makes me want to sale my Mavericks and get an Edgun. FX, ARE YOU READING THIS, LET'S GET THIS RECTIFIED ASAP, PLEASE. I've emailed FX service very early this morning and still awaiting an answer and I've done same to my dealer that sold me the barrel kit. Now with this new revelation about the hammer weight I will need to contact my rifle dealer.

Since the transfer port on my 700mm barrel is wrong, I wonder if my hammer weight is correct fo

Here is a pic of the stock hammer weights that came out of my 22 compact and 22 sniper Maverick. The same as yours. I replaced them with the 25 hammer weight. The one at the bottom is the one that comes with the slug kit.

I maxed out the compact 22 at 41.5 foot pounds before upgrading to the 25cal hammer weight. I bought the Sniper 22 second and didn't even bother with the stock hammer weight. I can't find my pic of the 25cal hammer weight, but if I do, I'll post it here for you.

Jasmlowe,

Your heavier hammer weight is the same as my .30 Maverick. I was just informed by FX just what u sent me and that is my hammer is the same as your stock hammer weight. FX recommend that I set my regs to 135/105 PW7 and hsa to 22mm that includes spring cup and the micro adjuster screw stick out. Will try this setting later today. Keep u posted.
