Tuning Maximus trigger mod help

It’s hard to tell without seeing the gun and exactly what’s going on. I know one thing is that I was told that you don’t want to tighten that stud that has a threaded end and the other end is drilled and tapped too tight or it will strip out because it seems to be soft steel. But the first thing that comes to mind is maybe the screw is too long now with the new trigger assembly. And may be bottoming out and not letting you tighten it up all the way .But like I said without seeing it it’s hard to tell. These guys that already have done the mod will Probably know what’s going on.

Few solutions I did for 3 guns that did that.

First remove stock start over wiggle the stock in then press down real hard then screw in the screw.

Another I put duct seal to bed it in then screw in.

Another friends gun who didn't want duct seal dirtying up his gun I bed with layers of Duct tape on both action and tube and stock!!! He be cleaning off stickiness from duct tape residue instead but why would he want to anyway Bahahaaa...

Oh and another the screw wouldn't even line up again after duct seal bedding but it was so tight it didn't even need a screw after I was done with it you need 2 strong people to get that stock out of the action!

Removing the lawyer spring will drastically lighten that Challenger trigger pull. Add delrin shim tubular spacers to take up the slop if you are a trigger snob you just need to cut them to length with exacto knife or scissors and file and sandpaper smooth and straight before installing them onto the pins.

You can make your own trigger guard from sheet metal like from car stereo mounting hardware or just 3d print one like discosRus.

You will have to chop your stock to use the Challenger metal trigger guard FYI... LIKE THIS!

I got the 717 shooting but not very powerful. No leaks, but don’t feel like I have anymore options. I did put the original valve back in with a new oring.

O, I haven’t opened the trigger assembly to see where the spring is. Am no sure where the shims would go. I’ve got it to 2 lbs. If I can get the stock back on I will see how everything works.

OK back to the 717. If that valve is still in good shape and it is working,Then I’m wondering if you adjusted the cocking arm properly.Mine shoots very powerful for what it is. I would say it definitely is on the high side of velocity of what I should expect. You can be very meticulous in Rebuilding it but if you overlook just one tiny detail, it can sometimes make a big difference.

I'll 2nd the issue with stripping out the air tube threads. It is very easy to do. Make sure you had a drop of blue loctite on it. If you buy it from crosman, it comes with a blue loctite patch. But, if you remove and replace, it needs a new drop. If the threads do pull out, there is a mod to go to a larger 10-32 thread. Otherwise, a new tube from crosman.

The stock wobble has been noted in maximus and fortitudes with the oem trigger pack. Many don't notice it until they remove/replace the stock. I think the thickness of both trigger packs at stock lug is the same. Going by memory on that. ;)
