Maybe I was too optimistic for my Taipan .177 Standard accuracy?

I'd suggest that you open the regulator and check the washer stack.
Should look like this.

And more tension on the washers = higher output pressure. So, you don't want more tension than it had......unless they stacked the washers incorrectly....
It didn't have any tension on the washers whatsoever. The brass ring with the holes in it moved freely right and left with no resistance at all. When I turned it clockwise 3 or 4 holes, I could feel the tension start so I would assume that is the lowest pressure that I could possible have. I waas going to turn it 3 or 4 holes clockwise once I felt the tension start then put it back in the rifle and see what happens.

Do what JimD said.

I did what JimD said. A very weird looking configuration was on my regulator. I don't know if the arrangement of washers on a .177 regulator is supposed to be different but mine certainly was! That may explain why my regulator was behaving the way it was. Mine had 2 washers facing out then 4 sets of 3 washer groups facing opposite directions then the last 2 washers facing out. Nothing like what Ernest showed in his video. So, I took them off, replaced them in the order Ernest showed, put a touch of loctite on the threads, closed it back up (which now looked like Ernest's reassembly where you had to pull the center into the regulator with the locking screws) and moved the brass ring 4 "holes" clockwise and reassembled the rifle. I'm filling with air now. I'll let you know what happens next...

EDIT- I just shot a few magazines a while ago to determine my max speed with FX 10.3s and it was WAY TOO HOT at 1040 fps. That would make the knee as I understand it to be around 1009 fps. Again, wayyyy too fast for my desired speed of mid to upper 800's. I just can't seem to tame this regulator down. So, I called Tony at Talon Tunes and told him to send me a HUMA regulator set at 100 bar. Maybe that will finally put an end to this saga!
