Meeker Sportsman Club indoor 50’ BR (N. Central Ohio) (w/ Results & match updates)

Our indoor season starts this Sunday December 4 at 2 PM. We will host matches the 1st and 3rd Sundays, December through March. It’s open to .22 Rimfire and any air rifles. We shoot four card matches using NRA A36 targets @50’. $10 Fee to cover heat, lights and targets. It’s nothing fancy but we have fun and its a good way to get some trigger time and lead therapy during the cold months this winter

We are located just West of Marion, OH an hour north of Columbus.

Well attendance was a bit sparse today but we had a great time. 5 Rimfire shooters and 2 airgunners. We shot 3 A-36 targets and a 25 small animal target (#4). Since there weren’t any X’s on the animal target we just scored it with 5 points per animal and the hole had to be inside the animal’s silhouette to score 5 points, otherwise it was a zero.

Attendance was much improved for today's match and even included some AGN members! Thanks again for all of those who came out to participate and share in the fun. I also find it interesting that only 1 point separates the RF top score from the Airgun top score.

BTW, Our next match, previously scheduled for 1/1/23, was postponed due to the holiday and moved to 1/8/23.

Todays match was another success. 18 Shooters showed up for an afternoon of competitive fun even. Here are the results and we were pleased to have so many new shooters participating with us today. Thanks again to all those who came out.

During the match we shoot four targets in total so there is a possible 100 points per card and 10 X’s per card or 400 points in total and 30X’s in total. The last target contains 20 animal silhouettes so no X’s on that target. Series points standings are as follows:

Any chance you could post rules and targets used, etc.? We want to start a local air rifle 50 yard match, but not sue what to do, or how to go about it. Even a link to some info would be great. Thanks!

Hi Frank,

I'd suggest you adhere to the N50 rules and even possibly join their organization if you plan to start up some organized 50Y matches. It's a great organization and they have far less rules than ARA. Our club joined N50 and when we hosted our first match last year airguns outnumbered the rimfire shooters which was pretty cool. We have already schedule monthly N50 matches for our 2023 season April - October.

We use NRA's A-36 50' rifle targets for our indoor matches since we are shooting at 50' distances. That target would be much too difficult to use for 50Y events. Therefore, we purchase and use the N-50 targets.

Great reports! Just curious what do you allow for time limits?

Thanks RH. We allow 10 minutes to fire unlimited sighters and one shot at the 10 record bulls.

I load single shot and am usually done by the 5 minute mark without rushing so 10 minutes is plenty of time. Magazine shooters often beat my time significantly. Its not a race and the main competition is yourself so we just focus on safety first and fun second.
