AEA Megalodon Charging Handle Issue

I've got an AEA Megalodon .58 that shoots soft in chronograph tests. I called up a buddy, and he suggested pulling the bolt back then removing the charging handle. It shot with decent velocity for the first time ever.

What gives? Is the handle rubbing or is it just performing well with a lighter bolt? I'm not sure how to fix this either way.

My 45 Meg has galling marks on the outer (larger) arc of the curved cocking slot. I know, a picture is worth a thousand words, but I don't have a picture of it.

I'm sure that the friction of the cocking handle stud rubbing the aluminum receiver is your problem. Or one of them.

Do you notice that your first shot is slower than the rest? After storing mine for a while, my first shot just barely makes it out of the barrel. The moles and earthworms are in danger but the target is safe. I wonder if the valve sticks or locks during storage.

Really, all shots were clocking about half the expected speeds.

I just got one in .45 and I think I’m in middle of a valve lock hell. Wondering how common this is, I’ve read about it a few times here so I guess I just fill it to 4200? Did you fix the issue you were having with yours?
Remove the decocking handle and you will get full power shots all the way from 4500 psi

I did that and it worked, kind of bummed I have to take apart the gun to use it. I wonder if there’s another fix, o was thinking of filing a divot on the handle where it is getting marred but I’m sure it would weaken the metal and possibly break.
