I have a dichroic technology scope on a hunting rifle. You are correct in that it is not an illuminated reticle, it does need ambient light to function. That being said, hunting during legal shooting hours in the US it works great. I love the way you can see thru the dichro reticle and see your target. This is awesome technology in a riflescope and I am truly amazed other scope manufacturers haven't tried something similar. I took a nice buck 2 years ago as it came out of thick wood at beginning of legal shooting hours. I loaned my rifle to a buddy's niece and nephew who also took nice deer and liked how easy it was to get on target. I am slowly switching my old scopes out for Meopa products, you truly can not beat the quality versus cost. There's a reason the Optika5/6 scopes are so hard to find, as soon as they show up they are spoken for, don't wait.
