Meopta Optika6 Info. Ect.?

The parallax goes down to 10m on most models and they are reasonably weighted. Get the right reticle and they're as close to 'real deal' airgun scopes as you're likely to find, except I suppose for springer rating.

You're right, I went back and looked at the specs and most are 10yd minimum. That would work.

The higher power versions only go to 25 though.

So they would make a killer hunting and general shooting scope, but maybe not so much for FT work. I looked at their other models a while back (after I bought their binos) and the other models only had 25-50yd min focus. Looks like they are changing that now!

I hope to be able to give one a go.

I saw that limitation as well of only going down to 25 yards and it is heavy at 36.7 oz I think the new Vector Optics 34mm 5-30x56FFP scope that is their brand new top of the line model that is only 28.6 oz, goes down to 10 yards, 1/10th Mil, German Schott glass for around $800 is the scope I will likely buy as I just want quality for a good value that has that large 30x magnification and can go down to 10 yards.

I would hold off in buying that 34mm Vector because that $800 seems way overpriced for a scope that should sell for $500 or less like the Discovery HD 34mm.

I bought all of their scopes on the 35mm and 30s few years ago at 1/3 to 1/2 the current price.

I suggest buying both Vector and Discovery 34mm and plan on returning one. Buy from places that offer no hassle or even free return.

The Meopta optika is excellent. The 5-30x56 is Ilya Koshkin's pick of scope in that mag range under $1000 and there is a good review by him on youtube as well as one by BigJimFish over on snipershide, both of which you should check out.

I have the 3-18x56 ffp and it's is excellent, especially in terms of resolution. Contrast and colour are very good and there is absolutely no contrast loss/milkiness/blurring at max magnification. Image sharpness and flatness at the edges is good but lags behind scopes like the delta stryker, obviously. Chromatic aberration is more than the stryker, but is relatively minimal.

Parallax adjustment is very smooth and precise and the markings are remarkably well calibrated to actual distance. The turrets are very good and may be locking, non locking and covered, or a combination of both depending on mag and FFP/SFP. Click feel and sound are excellent and tracking on mine at least is bang on. The ffp models have zero stops.

The reticles available range from good to useless. Buy a good one I guess.

Mine is pretty close overall optically to my previous sightron-siii, but beats it in center resolution, field of view, parallax adjustment. Contrast and CA are close, but contrast is better at higher mags.

Overall these are very good scopes and in no way overpriced. Good luck getting one though!

Good review - thanks! I'd be interested in this scope for field target use. How does it compare to the SIII in regards to a thin plane of focus for distance ranging?

Thanks!

Don't know if these are the ideal FT scope?

The ones that go down to 10y in parallax are 18x and below maximum mag. Also most people I'm aware of use significantly higher mag scopes like that sightron 10-50 I'm assuming you are referring to for ranging out to 55y in ft matches.

So while the depth of field is shallow enough, especially on the model with 56mm objective like mine, with good focus 'snap in', you're not likely to get good enough ranging granularity out past 30y to compete effectively with those purpose built scopes.

Thanks for the info. I shoot hunter class so I'm limited to 16X magnification.

I have a Meopta optika6 6 5-30x with the Ilya designed reticle and it's a great scope. With parallax 25yss to infinity it's a great hunting scope or really awesome for benchrest competition with it's Ed glass. I'm considering selling it because I just got rid of the rifle it was on. Any interested PM me.

** SOLD** Thank You Kdog and Thank You AGN.
