BSA Mercury Challenger

Wow. I know they're rare, but. Surprised what it brought. Time to list my Mercury S? I still have the box.

Makes them a little challenging to work on. And the trigger guard is cast into the back block. They did it that way about 40 years beginning in 1948 with the Mk1 Airsporter. Cast "aluminium" as they say and the paint is usually scratched up. I repainted this one. You won't get a finish like that with a rattle can.

I am forever critical of the raised scope rails BSA ruined their later guns with. Mounting a scope puts it much too high unless you have a really fat punkin head. I don't. The curved back block on the Mercury and Airsporters tends to require the scope to be mounted too far forward as well.
