Message from JSB regarding FX pellets

Honestly, I don't feel bad about that. I mean, of course if I use a batch of pellets (that my gun likes) made by the very same mold, I will probably gain some more constancy. But this is as obvious as imagine that there are some microscopic differences between mold and mold. And i have a big problem with JSB, I'm not a fanboy. But we have to be honest: all the dust raised by the airgun community is quite no-sense. At the end of the day, I buy a pellet, I try it and if it works, i will buy it again.

The relevant info at the above video is at 38:00. I tagged it in a comment on youtube so anyone can go directly there.
Thanks for posting this. I listened past the 1st myth, and listened to the following question about JSB making slugs. So, if JSB makes pellets or FX, it would follow that they would be making the "new", yet to be released FX Halo slugs. For those of you waiting for these slugs, based on the comments from the representative of JSB, it's going to be a loooong wait.

I buy the ones that are cheapest. Used to be AA then they had quite the price hike. Then JSBs. But last time I bought pellets FX were a dollar or 2 a tin cheaper so I bought them. I see now at PA, JSB are $24.99, AA $22.99 and FX $21.99 for 15.89gr. Well I know which one I'm buying lol. At Utah Airgun JSB are $22.99 and FX $17.99. Thus is why I buy FX pellets now.

BTW good to see you Joe! Been along time. @Predator Int.

Any reputable company that produces a similar product re-branded would not make it of any lesser quality. JSB is a highly respected company and I think their letter hits the nail on the head. I just laugh at the discussion about Yong Heng compressors and the so-called "clones". It's so obvious that those machines are all the same, some without the decal on the side. Come now, do you think another company its going to re-tool to produce and identical device?? It's just like Cheerios and the store brand. How the heck many companies are going to set up to manufacture little donuts??

Of course this begs the question... If there are all made by JSB and all from the same molds, why the difference in pricing? If they are all equal, what makes makes one worth more than another?
I think each private label customer sets their own pricing, so whatever the market will bear. Also, the private label customer will have a higher cost, since they have to pay JSB its wholesale profit margin. One more company in the supply chain, one more finger in the pie.

Well, pricing is likely suggested by the brand and set by the dealer based on many considerations. Also, the dealer cost buying from each brand is likely different.

Advertising . and the desire to match , like Corvette , key fobs ,hats, jaclets , Advertising verbiage inspires the mind to Think this is somehow exactly what I want . That Corvette hat you wear is the exact same manufacture that makes the exact same hat with Harbor Fgt. on it .

China does have factories that go around cloning and reproducing designs that lack a patent, and in some cases even infringing on patents, this applies to the YH compressor as their are slight differences between them depending on which factory you get it from...this is FACT.

I was looking at buying pellets yday, being one of the biggest anti-fx guys around these parts, I couldn't help but balk at them being the cheapest 'jsb factory' pellet.

I have two, one with the decal and one without. Identical in all regards. Why would another manufacturer spend a huge quantity of money to build a factory to do this with all the tooling, die casting, machining and all that goes into a lousy $200 product and make it exactly the same? Maybe the same company has variations using reject parts, but why would they risk their reputation? If there are two companies, please name them. Yes, the Chinese are guilty of stealing intellectual property big time, and patents don't mean squat. I saw the aerospace technology first hand being copied by them, but you are looking at aircraft parts costing millions of dollars.

There are discrepencies between YH's, where parts are not interchangable. China will clone .10 cent parts if they can sell enough of them to justify it... Ecigarette's were notoriously cloned, the coils that cost 40-50 cents a pop were cloned...heavily.

One thing to consider, is that the dies wear out after a time, so brands like Air Arms that don't sell as fast as JSB, might come out "cleaner and less deformed" for a longer period of time... because their dies haven't worn out yet... they just get less use.

I've always used the AA .177 cal 10.34 and in .25 cal the 25.4 gr. because they seemed a little cleaner and the skirts seemed a little thicker and less deformed on average.. and they are less expensive... and usually in stock when JSB is out of stock.

Different lot numbers can shoot differently, no matter what the brand... that's one of the things that makes the game so fun!
