Message out to classified low ballers

Your price is OK i guess, but there is no support for that gun anymore and the newer better model, western airguns are selling around 15-1600 anyway. Blocking just guarantees less buyers in the future. I understand if it was much lower than your asking. I know who you are referring to as well, he tried with guns that I and a friend had recently. Better just to laugh it off.
I have not bothered to look up the OPs ad.

All I know is I see ten FS ads for every ad that actually sells. And they get circulated over and over and over again.

- tins of pellets for basically the same price as retail when you shop wisely.
- complete used airguns without warranty for 80-90% of brand new (with warranty)
- wtt obscure random item for unrelated obscure random item
- PayPal F&F “discreet” only

It doesn’t look to me like the market will pay these asking prices. For some items maybe the lowball offer IS the market price. Or maybe everyone thinks they can buy brand new and sell here, while nobody actually buys from here.

Idk why you replied to me, i only buy used at actual used prices and agree on alot of prices too high.if it has been bumped ten times, it is obviously too high and they are delusional. I typically sell for exactly what i buy for(used) or less. As for pellets most are overpriced. Businesses will reimburse if there is damage and help you out, an individual is not going to do that. Plenty of people buy here though. You will find out who the good sellers are and not, just sift through it.

I guess the "ART Of the Haggle" is now unacceptable ?
Even at the shows i see many people walk right by something they are obviously interested But don't stop to make an offer . They just look at the asking price and pass on it . That is why i DO NOT put tags on my stuff . and if it a garage sale at home if a person looks at the item they usually walk away with it . I want to get rid of it .

It’s not for everyone, all of the time. But unless a price says firm, it can be expected.

Some people approach haggling like it’s a hobby. Others, like me, will negotiate but the other party is on the clock. If they waste too much time I might decide it’s not worth it to me. They can be artists on someone else’s schedule.

I spent a lot of time in other countries in markets haggling over prices, I'll make an offer if I want the item, if the seller becomes a jerk, I just cut bait.

I sell stuff, I get lowball offers, I don't care, I just come back with my needed price. No biggie.

I wish the art of the haggle was used more here. AGN classifieds is the perfect place for it. Just like at a gun show. I would much prefer a back and forth negotiation when a price is offered.

agreed sir.

like our recent transaction,
nothing wrong with a bit of polite back and forth if you can meet in the middle (y)

There is an old saying "something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it."
I know from personal experience there are things I have put up for sale that it is worth more to me than what people will pay.
And Vice Versa, there are things that I have looked at buying that are not worth to me what the seller has into it.

Everyone likes a good deal myself included but sometimes it pays to just walk away from one side or the other.

As I buyer I am usually nervous if I get too good a deal until I shake down what I have bought. "What's Wrong with this xxx?"
Sometimes I got taken, sometimes I got a great deal. It is all a gamble when we buy stuff especially used.

I get that some folks are overdoing it and goes without saying that being nice/polite/respectful should be the norm. That said, some ads in the classifieds are straightforward ridiculous. A tube wildcat for $1100-1200? I can get that new to my door for a little over $1200. An impact MK2 for almost $1500 because it as a saber tactical rail? I can get a refurb M4 for $1800 or new for 2k. an almost new one sold here for $1500 a week or so ago. Same goes for most of the Mk3s. If I buy a new car and drive it for 2 years I’ll obviously make a “loss” when I sell it, and more than 30% at that. Doesn’t mean that I am going to sell it to a rude lowball chum, but eventually the market will do its job. There should be a limit on “this listing has been renewed” though. There are ads with 20, 30, 40 and even more than 50 bumps. And I am not talking about the guys selling 3D printed parts made to order.

Limits won't work, soon folks will be complaining about that ... If you limit renew listings, they'll just post a new ad. If you limit the timeframes in any manner, more complaining from those whom move some items faster than others. If its one or two folks, can't you ignore/block 'em? Let's do this, turn this into an eBay like system or charge for listings. I already can hear, oh, I miss the good old days where you could........ 🤷‍♂️ I don't understand, the only complaint I have on the classifieds is there TOO much tempting stuff. That's been the biggest issue since the day I crossed AN forum - remove the classifieds!

Fair enough. I don’t mind scrolling over them actually, at least I’ll get a laugh out of it :)

If it doesn't say "firm", then I'll haggle a bit. The point is not to make such a low offer that it is ridiculous. The seller can always post "OBO". But I agree-some folks are downright insulting-that usually means that as a seller, I don't have to sell to them even if I adjust the price.

Making an offer so low that it has no sane relation to the current market value of the item is a foolproof demonstration that the buyer is unserious. The best way to do with these folks is to reply "no" and say nothing else. I do this with morons on Facebook Marketplace, eBay, OfferUp, etc.

Conversely, there are many sellers who vastly overestimate the value of their good. If the price is unreasonable to start with, I never even contact them. There's no dealing with delusional people at either end as it's a waste of time.
