RAW Rapid Micro Hunter .177

I have one in .177. Mine is left hand. I like it. I have not shot it a lot. My shooting time right now is getting a new FT rifle set up. That said it shoots good and fun. I had mine turned down to 12 fpe. My use for the rifle is more for backyard plinking and the occasional nuisance squirrel. Turning it down doubles the shot count. Second picture is a buddy of mine shooting it at deer camp. Kind of shows you how small it is. If you want a small, compact, hunting rifle you can carry all day this is it. For what ever reason I can shoot it really well offhand.

Your buddy shooting really shows the small size of that sweet little gun… 🙏
That’s why I added that picture. Kind of puts it in prospective. I do need to move the scope back as that one doesn’t have enough eye relief as it sits in the picture so you have to extend your neck out there to get the site picture.

I have the TM1000 version in .20. I’ve considered putting a stock on it for when I’m not shooting HFT. As rigged mine weighs a tad over 8 lbs. easy to shoot offhand using the taco method. The moderator allows me to train in the back yard.

This is the RAW Mini, not the Micro Hunter. The Micro Hunter uses the HM body with a magazine, has a smaller bottle, and shorter barrel, and is lighter.

Not sure the OP knows that so trying to address his specific questions.
Thanks Fella's appreciate all your input. To me it's kind of like no love, or rather not much for the Micro Hunter. I am on the fence as of now. Have been back and forth with Leah at Air Force ( Rapid Air Werqs?) for they have a non ambi that I am considering. Seems to me through all the research that the earlier ones might have had some issues? Yes, no.

I get to shoot the Micro's and Mini's and other rifles quite a lot. I love the micro for it's short length and portability. You get all of the benefits of a RAW (best trigger, reliability, accuracy, build quality) in a small package. Every time I'm walking around in the woods or in my yard, I can shoulder the Micro or maybe brace against a tree or post and hit what I'm aiming at from 30-40 yards with ease. At 12fpe to less than 20fpe it is very accurate and a joy to shoot. Trying to get 20fpe or more from the 8.5" barrel makes it harsh and loud, but I believe more power is not the intent with this rifle. If you want more power, go to the RAW Mini with the 15" barrel. Or if you want more power still, go to a full-length rifle with a 24" barrel. BrazosbyNemo expressed his pleasure in the .177 version that I turned down to 12fpe for him. The larger calibers are more efficient due to less constriction by the barrel and transfer port, so they can easily achieve up to 20fpe without being harsh.

So if I'm looking for shot count and 12fpe how do I achieve that if it arrives to me at... say17fpe.

Mine came in at about 17 ft lb, I put in a Huma Reg and tuned it down to about 11.5 ft lb. With the steel tank at 200 bar, I get about 35 shots. I found the H&N 8.4 shoot the best in it. I still think I am waisting some air with that short barrel. But I use it for pistol field target and pesting around the house with the but stock on. Really like the compactness of this little gun.

When I got mine, the one Cloud9 turned down to 12fpe for me, it was around 15-16fpe and I got 40 shots before falling off the reg. It was a joy to shoot out of the box and a perfect small hunting rifle as advertised. I wanted more of a fun plinker and decided around 12fpe would be better for a bigger shot count. I have not shot it over the chrono since Cloud9 turned it down but believe he said it was good for 70-80 shots before falling off the reg.

Ordered 5/30 @1pm. Response was will ship tommorow with shipping & tracking
Info. Friday late afternoon email, won't ship today. Mid to late next week. Monday morning I canceled my order. If Leah could have been up front with these delays I would have been more understanding. It was like they could care less. Will stick with proven vendors from now on.

How loud is the report near the gun when its tuned for 12fpe? A low fpe .177 compact gun has been on my list for awhile so would love some input

At 12fpe it’s not too loud/pretty quite. At 16fpe (the way it came to me in factory form) it had some bark and a little bit of recoil. It was actually a lot of fun to shoot like this. It made some noise (not near ear plug level) and gave you a little nudge. I was going to buy a moderator for it but at 12fpe I don’t really see the need for it now shooting around the house. I may still buy one though as it is small and light enough to take to the deer stand with me. I have a lot of squirrels hanging out around my deer stand and would like to take some out while deer hunting. Obviously I want it dead silent if I try that plan. They also look kinda cool with the moderator. It’s a really nice rifle. I have a lot of really nice rifles. Most are target oriented. I have nothing like this and fills a nitch. If a person wants a true hunting rifle that is accurate, that you can carry around all day, leave it at full power and throw a moderator on it (if noise is a concern) and you will have a killer rig. You will get around 40 shots (177) at full power which is plenty if you are out hunting. It also fits perfect in my AR15 M4 rifle case. I can put the mags, pellets, etc. in the mag pouches on the case and off I go.

The little guns, at supposed low power, 12 FPE, punch way above those numbers in “real world” useage, a good shooter sending… In America we are lucky to be able to own and shoot 30 FPE+ airguns. I discovered that the lower in power I went, the more opportunities presented themselves. The small critters targeted? Find the low power simply irresistible…
