I almost bought from them but was turned off that they wanted my birthdate. Not something I want exposed if they get hacked. I was able to buy from PA with free shipping so about $9 more expensive. Was already getting some other stuff there and needed the Beeman to spend enough for that free shipping so just went with it. I checked the delivery dates for both and they were the same so no clear winner there.

Midway asks for your dob because they sell ammo for powder burners. They are a good source for lots of gun stuff, I’ve bought from them many times.

They are a good source for H&N pellets and slugs. Unfortunately, they are the worst packers for shipping pellets. They do not put foam around the tins.

I still buy pellets from Midway. Their customer service is great if any arrive damaged.

Just tell them that you were born 04/01/1895 ;)

Actually, after I had place the PA order, I did put in a fake dob and it was fine. Probably as long as I don't order anything powder gun related it will be fine. I got my P17 and my pellets from PA and the packing was phenomenal so I'm happy there. But my next order is going to be for dumbbells so I can bulk up my arms to cock the Beeman.

I’m not 100% sure, but I think this was a direct result of California’s passing of AB 2571 which restricts any type of firearms industry advertising available to minors.

Ever since AB 2571 was passed, I’ve seen many companies using some form of age confirmation barrier.

It just goes to show you what happens when a state is ruled by certain people.

But one thing is for sure, we should never, ever, discuss the reason these things happen, as it would be anathema to the delicate sensibilities of airgunners.

Having worked in computer and network security for several years, I can tell you that Midway having your birthdate is no reason for concern. The amount of personal info that exists on the 'Net is staggering. Banks, doctors, credit card companies, Facebook, and Google have pretty much every piece of personal info on nearly every person in the world. A lot of those places regularly sell or otherwise share that data. And don't think that just because you've never had a Facebook account that they don't have data on you. Facebook is probably the biggest threat to personal privacy that exists today. They regularly glean data from a great many sources. Some guys say Facebook, or Meta now, regularly exchanges data with the Feds. I'd say there is a good chance that is true. But, just a birth date on Midway's site isn't cause for great concern.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I wasn't concerned as much as mildly annoyed. Because the more often you enter that data, the more likely it is to be exposed for the 36th time in case someone didn't get it the first 35 times. Yes, it's out there (after all how many people's data was exposed by Equifax? Something like 2/3 of America?) So if I can NOT enter it, yet again, as Bartelby the Scrivener said, "I prefer not to." But not a big deal.

Internet security.. thats a oxymoron, right?..
Lol

Yep. You got it right. And no matter what we do as individuals, no matter how careful we are, we're at the mercy of all the places we do business with. If your doctor has a major breach, every piece of personal data they have on you is shared all over the 'Net within hours. I think that's one thing that bothers me. Even if you have never owned a computer or smart phone and have never used either one, the places you do business with have your info online. A breach of any one of those places scatters your info across the world.

I tried to erase my digital footprint a few years ago. What a waste of time and effort. As soon as I thought I had certain info removed, it popped right back. It's like they say about putting a risqué photo on one, single site. If you try to remove it after even an hour, you're too late.

This is also why I find Zuckerberg's association with the federal government so danged scary.

But as for the P-17, even though I'm a compete newbie to airgun shooting I can highly recommend it for anybody wanting some cheap fun. I've had three mini sessions with mine in the garage. It's definitely a fun little gun to shoot. As long as I stay away from the cheap Crosman flat-nosed pellets, it's just shot after shot of fun. Just follow the advice all the guys gave about using a glove or rag to close it up.

And I can highly recommend the cheap Daisy Precision Max flat-nosed pellets. My gun likes them really well. So far, only the cheap Crosman flat-nosed pellets cause me problems. It must just be my gun that doesn't like them. Other guys say they have no problems with those pellets.

Oh, I understand. I'm just like you. I hate having to give too much personal info to anyplace. It bugs me too.

Yeah, I can't count the number of times I've received the letter that someone screwed up. Once it was a stolen USB stick from my student loan org that had like 500,000 students information on it. Or the health insurer that got cracked here in Washington State. Or Equifax or....etc, etc....I just keep waiting for the day that they tell me that the insurance has lapsed on that Ferrari I allegedly "bought" in Russia....

Yep. Our privacy is in the hands of clerks, receptionists, secretaries, etc, etc, etc. I've also been notified several times about security breaches by different companies and firms that have my personal data. I'm sure a lot of guys on here have had the same thing happen.

Seemed like midway had the 500 tin of daisy hp's for like 5$.. fyi. I guess there pistol worthy at that count and price?

I was surprised to see the price our local farm service store had them at. I think it was either $4.79 or $4.89. They had 4 or 5 packs of them. Now that I know my P-17 handles them so well, I might go back and get another one or two. I could just about shoot all day for under 5 bucks. Couldn't do that with rimfires, let alone centerfire stuff. I'm liking that part of this hobby for sure. I also like the fact I can do all that shooting in the garage. No need to head for the boonies to do some plinking.

I'll keep watching for another ridiculous sale on the P17 on Amazon. Bought 24 of them a couple of years ago @ $7.50 each.

The only regret I have is that I didn't buy more! BTW, gave most of them away as gifts (6 to GTA, which I now regret), but I think I still have about 6 left.

No, don't ask me to send you one for free! (chuckle) The economy (my economy) simply doesn't allow that anymore. (heavy sigh)

BTW, check camelcamelcamel.com to keep track of items on Amazon. Not as good as they used to be, but still worth a look.
