Might have to give up JSB's in my FX 400? 7/24/15

I'm not a great shot to start with, so don't rib me too bad. Just felt like pulling the trigger today and these were my first 32 shots on paper today.
Stepped out on the back porch with the FX 400 and shot off the rickety porch rail set up.
The rifle only had 150 bar in it when I started and shot it down to 120 bar.
Didn't feel like grabbing the tank? Also shot this with the magazine instead of single shot tray.

I thought I was shooting at 30 yds, but lazered it after the fact and it was only 27 yds.

Shot a dragon fly off the top of the target with the first shot with the 18.1 gr JSB's 5.53mm head
The top two 5 shot JSB groups sucked in my book?
Group #3 tightened up considerably with the 21.1 gr Kodiaks
Group #4 was my best with the Kodiaks
Group #5 was starting out phenomenal with the 21.1 gr H&N Baracuda Match, but I just had to go for the 6th shot and screw it up ;-)
Group #6 there are 4 shots right there where the pellet is and 5th shot eased over right and low, and sixth shot screwed it up even worse.

I guess I'm going to give up on the .22 cal JSB's for a while? Gotta spend more time with the Kodiaks and H&N's ;-)

The 25 grain JSB's shoot fine in my .25 cal Cricket , and the 10.34 JSB's do well in my AA S500
Not sure what's going on with the darn 18.1 gr?
Anyway, I've got to get tighter at 27 and 30 yds before I leap out to 50 ;-)

Guess you're never gonna really know what works best in your rifle unless you go out there and try them all.
All the groups look pretty good, but you're right that the H&N, and the Kodiaks look a bit better. Maybe I'll run some Barracudas in my RAW and see what they can do!

Could have been a bad lot? The JSB 18 grain shoot phenomenal in my FX 400
but the H&Ns shoot best in my steyr pistols

Maybe you just got more settled into shooting groups, perhaps that is the reason for the better results with the Kodiak and H&N's?

Try different head sizes....in the JSB

I have tried the regular 18.1 gr JSB's and the 5.53 mm Head size seemed to group better than the regular?
I'm beginning to wonder if there is any truth to the fact that JSB quality control is slipping?

I need to try this indoors on a steady bench when I have more time, but I have nowhere indoors to do this?
It was a little windy today, but ya wouldn't think it would make that much difference at only 27 yds?

The Kodiaks seem more consistent as I shot some groups later on today. Less flyers

When my Bobcat 22 starts to shoot crappy with JSB I clean the barrel and everything is good again....I get about 5 tins of pellets before I start to see accuracy fade a little. I just shoot felt pellets with ballistol on them till they come out clean.

Ran some cleaning patches though it last night. Shot a few one hole JSB groups early this morning at 34 yds. And of course some groups that were closer to 1/2".
Not terribly bad. Probably just me.....maybe I'm just not that capable to hold it on target every time? I can pretty much stay inside the 5/8" square with ease, just want to be able to touch that 1/4" kill zone every time and I can't seem to do it consistently.

Salt, I tried the 16's she likes the 18's better. Haven't had any luck at all on low or medium power either.

I've got the rifle sitting on the back porch rail. So, for chits and giggles I went out there and slapped some 21 gr H&N 's in it. I guess my rifle likes them better? Was more consistent at hitting the 1/4" kill zone with them once I got it dialed in. I have to readjust my scope back and forth when I change to the heavier pellets. Those 3 extra grains make quite a difference. I think I'm gonna have to stick with the H&N's and Kodiaks for a while.

It is funny how airguns can be so finicky with pellets my Bobcat doesn't like the H&n much at all. Groups are twice as big. And if I shoot them then shoot JSB the JSB shoot crappy till I clean it. What scope are you using? I use a Bushnell elite 4500

I've got the BSA Tactical 6-24X44 on it right now. I've got a Falcon T50 I'm thinking about putting on it.

My R 400 regulated starts shooting low around 135 if I remember rite? I seldom let it go below 150 bar.
