I run a 68cc ninja tank tethered to my condor .25 and the M18 threads are too big for the ninja tank. I bought a ninja custom x 3000 from ansgear but had to send it back because the tank needed the 5/8" threads and the regulator had the M18 threads. I purchased one from online paintball with the 5/8" threads but it came to me with an output of 3300 ps and I need 3K psi. I was expecting better quality control from ninja, they claim +-100psi but mine must have slipped through the cracks. I talked with them and the best they could do was have me send mine back to adjust the psi. I decided to remove a few of the shims myself instead of waisting time with them and I'm in the process of refilling my tank to see what psi the regulator is giving me.
Also with these hpa ninja regulators you'll need to purchase a 'long pin fill adapter' because the custom x regulator has a recessed pin.

I'm guessing the "shims" you're talking about are "belville washers". There's a specific order and orientation you have to align them to set the regulator's pressure. PCP air rifle tanks are typically M18x1.5 and paintball are 5/8 so that's where you ran into trouble there too.

I think I might just get one of the small bottles sold by Benjamin or Air Venturi and then get an external regulator from Altaros. I'll end up with more hoses and bits than I hoped for but at least I have a bit more confidence that it will work.

Stretch, it's the flat fine tuning shims I removed. The regs I've messed with have always had some. The ninja regs use color coded shims, red, silver, blue. You're correct that the bowl shaped bellville washers have a specific order, and adjusting the direction of any one or more affects the psi output. I've probably changed and recorded at least a dozen different configurations trying to get the desired psi. All of them until now have been the inexpensive regs. I've come to believe that adjusting the configuration patterns is a luck of the draw. Even changing one washer direction can result in a 3K output turning into an 800psi output or a 3600psi output or no output at all, very frustrating and a reg tester is needed to save time and compressor use. I checked the thickness of the shims, calculated the psi of each, then removed 3 of them on this new reg. What I thought would take off roughly 300psi wound up being a 1000psi drop. I've emptied the tank and added two of the shims back in, we'll see what output that gives me. I've wore out my portable compressor and have just ordered a bigger tuxing which should handle the 68cc ninja tanks with ease. I'll save what's left of my 'orange' portable as a gun bottle filling backup. My setup wound up being paintball oriented because I already had the equipment. If my condor liked 3200 (one of my cheap reg's output) or the ninja's 3300 output I'd be all set, but it wants 3000 and I have to keep manually filling it from the tethered tank until the tank psi drops low enough to be opened 100% to the gun giving me the 3K I need, usually it's about 10 shots or so of manual fills, just a slight inconvienience I'm trying to eliminate. All together I get about 45 shots before I need to refill the ninja tank.

Regarding compressors, I had a AV Nomad that died just a few weeks after the warranty ended. The folks here talked me into getting a Yong Heng and I'm glad they did. Boy that thing works! It pumps at least 3x faster than the Nomad did.

I've got two of those regs. Originally in 2000 psi and 3000 psi. Those are the ones I changed the configurations multiple times, I ordered extra shims and bellville washers from mcmasters. Right now both are close to 3200 psi, I was going for 3K output. I was using one of them at 1800psi when I was shooting pellets out of my original LW barrel but I needed more now since I've gone to 44g slugs and an unchoked polygon barrel.
I have one of them on one 68cc ninja tank and the ninja custom x 3000 reg on another 68cc tank. I use a 5 ft hose with a bleeder on the reg adapter. I've always had good luck with them, at the moment they've been as consistent as my $130 ninja reg on my .25 condor.
I would like the yong heng compressor but my budget is forcing me to spend less on a Vevor. I'm hoping by keeping it extra cool, taking extra care of it and only filling the 68ccc tanks perhaps it'll last a long time.

It only has a 12 month warranty but with the first time buyer discount from their site my total is $217. I've had to spend less because I'm also buying a hand pump as a backup source.

IT WORKS!!! :D

I'm using the non-adjustable (2,200 psi) regulator, a 500 cc carbon fiber tank, a paintball whip with a slip vent. I also have a bigger than stock, 380 cc tank on my escape. The 500 cc tank was filled to 4,000 psi and hooked everything up, opened the valve and it topped off the Escape to about 2,100 psi (according to the gauge on the Escape). I took 35 shots and the 500 cc tank went from 4,000 to 3,000 psi, so I'm guessing that with a 300 bar fill I'd get 60-70 shots before going off the regulator. Total investment around $200 (not counting the bigger tank on the Escape). :)

Oh, and did I mention that I'm shooting NSA 24.8 gr slugs? Pressure at the rifle's tank stayed right around 2,000 to 2,100 psi. This will work perfectly for what I want to do.

It sounds like you are all set, but I'll share what I use for my 500cc M18x1.5 regulated fill set up. It is nice and compact and works great, and is fully adjustable. I got it from Wes at Airgun Archery Fun in Canada, and it is not expensive either. A great bit of kit.

There is a dif one on same site that is available maybe just a new link cuz looks the same. It's like $75 and there's 4 in stock as of today.
