So I got my compressor and bottle..everything ready to start shooting. I aired up my tank to approximately 4000-4200 psi (it’s a 4500 tank). The next day it got cold and the tank was down to 2000 psi, I know I would have lost some psi to it being cold. But not that much, checked to see if I had a leak everything was good. Tried to fill tank back up and busted the burst disk. So evidently either my tank gauge is wrong or something.

I think your burst disc was slightly cracked and slow leaked down to 2000psi...then when you tried filling it well it....burst! I had a burst disc go bad on a filled tank...pop...ssssss for a long time!
It held when I was at home to 4000 psi for a day or two. Should I have just used the air in it first then got it down to 2-2500 psi and pumped it up?

If the burst disc was faulty then you couldn't have known it was that that was the issue, not your fault. Mine was just filled to almost 5000psi then that night was when the burst disc burst.

No. Honestly I’m not sure how to do that.
Normally you get a "plug" - a fitting with no hole - that you attach to the end of your hose. You can then open the tank valve and see what the pressure really is (assuming your tank gauge is good). Without doing this, your gauge only reads the (transient) pressure between your hose and what is, or is not, connected to it. You should make sure to close your tank valve and bleed the line with the relief valve before attempting to remove the dead head.

Ok thanks I’ll try that.
