Mobil Raus 827

Stealth,

Somebody on eBay is already doing this for the Mobil 827 Rarus. Unmarked plastic 12 ounce water bottles for $12, plus $6 shipping. Of course, don't really know what is being sent, "maybe vegetable oil," says one comment. My first question would be what flashpoint is this oil, as detonation of under 500 degree F oil seems to be the concern. With SecoLube 500, with a 520 degree F flashpoint, available "to my door" for $31 from Filtertech, what would be the incentive? WM

The flash point is 518 degrees F. this would cost $30.00 a quart or about $100.00 per gallon. E bay would be $54.00 + tax for 36 ozs. I'm not trying to make a big profit, just trying to share in the huge expense of buying 5 gallons. Yong Heng is now recommending this oil for their compressor due to the high failure rate from using sub par lubricants. I might be able to get the price down depending on shipping cost. The E Bayer selling 12oz bottles is increasing prices on Monday due to rising cost of oil and shipping. I spoke to him this morning.

Stealth,

As a Yong Heng owner, planning to switch to a higher flash point oil at next oil change, this is how I view your endeavor. First, I'll assume both SecoLube 500 and Mobil Rarus 827 are top choice lubricants for the "dive" compressor HPA system. Second, I'll be able to get a quart of either to my door for a few dollars, give or take, around $30. My concern is if any problem arose with my compressor, determined to be lubrication related, how would I stand on a warranty claim. With SecoLube I'd be the original, receipted purchaser, with original container, secured from a recognized vendor. Purchasing from the gentleman on eBay, or yourself, what warranty standing, if any, would I have? WM

Can not answer that Question.Tuxing seems to have a good customer support team. I would hope they would take you at your word and work with you on parts. Otherwise you would have to send your compressor back for inspection. Replacing parts for DIY seems to be the trend. Exxon Mobil is a huge company with vast experience in the market with a team of some of the best engineers in the business. Most all car manufacturers are using Mobil 1 in their vehicles. Not Royal Purple or Amsoil or any of the other brands. I have used Mobil oils for over 40 years and have talked to their engineers on several occasions. They all sounded like they knew their stuff. Haven't had that experience with Royal Purple,SecoLube. Either lube would be a good choice but I will stick with what I know

Yong Heng manuals first recommended #46 hydraulic fluid which is a cheap stinky lubricant that quickly builds deposits. Now they recommend Mobil Rarus 827 which is like putting 107 octane gas in your VW Beetle to get higher horsepower. I'm sure Mobil Rarus is good stuff but c'mon. It's overkill. Total waste of money when there are equally effective compressor oils for 1/3 the price. It defeats the purpose of owning an economy compressor.

Stealth,

I wish you the best of luck, no matter which direction you take. In my year, or so, on this forum, I've noticed the several attempts at bulk buying have come up short. Basically, in my opinion, failure came as they offered no savings to participants nor answered any real need. For instance, a member offered to buy a pallet of pellets but only offered to sell them at the going rate. If Mobil Rarus 827 was the only oil available and only came in 5-gallon containers, or, if you had an inside track that offered substantial savings to be passed on, then bulk buying might generate interest. As it is, several appropriate oils are available, in various sizes, at similar pricing, so might be facing an uphill battle. WM
