I was cleaning up my gunroom and came across the notes from the little mock ft match me and my boys had on a Saturday in late January a couple months ago.
Just at my house so no cool destination. And we've only got a handful of the Air Venturi Rat on the Run targets, so that's what we used. We set up 5 of them, in the following manner.
Lane 1- 1.5" kz @ 31 yards for a 20.7 Troyer
Lane 2- 1.5" kz @ 53 yards for a 39.8 Troyer
Lane 3- 0.5" kz @ 12 yards for a 24 Troyer
Lane 4- 1.5" kz @ 44 yards for a 29.3 Troyer ("shoot the gaps")
Lane 5- 1" kz @ 30 yards for a 30 Troyer ("firewood alley)
If the math on my 4 month old notes is correct, that's an overall Troyer of 28.76, and I applied the 1.25 factor for "windy" b/c it certainly was that day, and I'm getting a Troyer of 36.
We shot each target twice, and were freezing our butts off so had a halftime that consisted of going inside for some hot chocolate. After thawing out a bit we went through again so a total of 20 possible points. Cabe's biggest challenges so far have been set up and target acquisition , so getting set up a total of 10 times was good practice for him.
"course" photos....
And 2/3rds of the competitors....
And the equipment list and scorecard....
Cabe turned 6 a few months ago and Colben is 10. Colben has been shooting ft since about Cabe's age, and is gonna catch me here pretty quick. Cabe is doing better than Colben did at this age.
Fun way to spend a couple hours on a Saturday. Kept em busy and off electronic devices for awhile.
