Model 48 Being Discontinued by Diana

Title says it all folks, confirmed by their Finnish importer.

The Diana factory in Germany has already distributed all remaining .22 models and only has some stock left of the .177 model. No word on the .25s.

So if you want one new, now is the time.

Wonderful rifle. Bit heavy for an old man to carry all day. Mine made a 79 yard head shot on a squirrel (tuned by John in PA). Gave it to a nephew.

Sadly the "Sled" components of 54/56 actions are spot welded to the main tube. So a 48 can't be retrofitted with the required parts to"Sled it"
Pretty sure stocks between sled & non sled models won't interchange.

I am thinking of a 56 in .25 would be a good thing . , just saw it on internet . Out of stock of course another in UK 11.2 fpe .22 a dream machine to me .

I've got one of the first 48s that were sold. No. 900393. I bought it used in 92 and It's been rock steady. I bought a 52 stock from a GTA member and it really helped with shooting. It's to bad they're discontinuing the line. I guess we've still have the 54 which while easier to shoot accurately is much heavier.

The decent springers are all slowly fading away. I'll have to order a 54 before those are discontinued too.

Maybe a used one without the horrible new stock.

This is a bummer. The Model 48 is probably Diana's most attractive price-per-pound item at the moment, and one of best sidelever actions ever designed.

Sad to hear that. I bought a .177 48 from PA last year. Helluva good rifle. Glad I got it when I could.

The 48 in .177 was the first airgun I purchased as an adult back in 1995/1996 IIRC. I purchased it via mail order from Gander Mountain. I sold it to a neighbor but then bought it back from him at a lower price lol. I still have it. If I was to do it all over again, I would've got one in .22cal.

When my neighbor had it, he did his own "custom" rattle can paint job on it.

After I bought it back from him, I stripped it down and refinished it. Both of these pics are old. Maybe 10-15 years ago.
