I'm quite fond of the WAR moderator for P-rods. Might not be the quietest, but it balances out the carbine really well and doesn't hamper access to the coupler at all.

I have also smacked it pretty good a few times (inadvertently) and there was no POI change at all, so it is definitely durable.

I'll also vouch for the TKO Stage-V Mod.
While I don't have a Prod/1720t, I still have the TKO [that I temporarily used on my ATI Nova Freedom]
and I can confirm that they work great. I had to quiet down the shot noise / echo while shooting indoors,
and it did the trick. This one is super light weight, and I was pretty impressed by the fit/finish/quality.

On my bottle fed Crosman 2240 I use a TKO. Even at 750fps, that thing is sleek and it works. On my Prod, which is also shooting 750fps, I use the WAR shroud extension like fishinwrench uses. Once again, it is sleek and it really works. I am not a fan of a loud gun but I equally despise hanging a big old can on the end of gun. Some of these smaller units get the job done just fine.

Have a maruader pistol with (maybe made by hill?) an extension and the shroud slid forward 2-3" also opened the "stripper" holes and used a short tubing section to sleeve the inside dia of air stripper. Silent and no poi shift noticed.

TKO makes good units. On using/clearing the fill cap , tko will mod yours free not counting postage. Or you can DIY your end cap in 2 minutes. I use a file to scribe a straight line into the plastic air nipple cover then take your mod/tko wrapped in sand paper place the scribe line on tube.sandpaper and in 30 strokes or so you are good to go.

There is an oring inside the fill cover cap if you begin to see the grove for it your planty deep to clear and if you go a bit to far ir doesn't matter.

edit to ad picture. Sanded too deep but still works just fine.

Thanks guys for all the input. I ended up going with a TalonSS. It was between the Talon and the Prod. I think the Talon has a longer shot count in the sweet spot, also easier to change calibers. I’m hoping the only mod I will need to make will be a top hat shim to get it shooting in the velocity range I’m looking for.

Since I’ll be hand pumping I will only pump to the top of the sweet spot and count about 30 shots and refill. This should keep the shot spread relatively close without the need for a regulator or moderator. At 600 fps it will be fairly quiet with (hopefully) no need for a moderator.
