I don't have any PCP moderators, really don't need them where I live, and my Taipan Veteran Compact, I feel is quiet enough (though even quieter may help for my hunting). I am curious as to whether adding a moderator on your PCP's has resulted in an increase in accuracy, or Not?
I've got three different suppressors for my .22 rimfire rifles. I've shot them with and without, there is no consistent clear advantage/disadvantage accuracy wise. Some guns/loads may shoot a barely measurable bit better or worse, no one gun or suppressor makes a significant improvement. Overall I would say they tend to shoot a little better suppressed... and I assume this is probably due to the weight of the suppressor affecting the barrel harmonics. Just to be clear there is a definite change in point of impact due to the suppressor weight (mine run 5, 8 & 9 ounces)... a larger change in POI on lighter barrels (of course).
But I wonder about PCP's... Since we're talking about a blast of air coming out the barrel, a much lighter projectile, and it seems the pellet skirt may be more susceptible to any air turbulence than a solid base.
So, those that have added a moderator on their PCP's, have you had a noticeable increase in accuracy? Or Not
Thanks,
Jerry
