RTI Mora .357 issues

Hey @Scott.t were your monocore misalignment issues resolved? I ran into the trigger issue, then dealt with ear-ringing cracking bang near the breach that took me forever to resolve and I had to do a TON of work. Now that I can actually shoot it, I have the same clipping issues as you.
Nope. Was told i would receive .30 cal kit since i didnt want to chance getting another faulty .35 setup since its a known issue at the factory level. 3 months and still waiting for parts. Was told today there is no ETA on when that will happen

Simon, the email address you posted isn't RTI arms.
You have been communicating with RTIarms shop.

Good luck 🤞. Gary
Thank you.
Is RTI ARMS shop a different company?

I do like the machining and the simplicity of my Prophet II. Changing caliber, pressure and other things is easy.
Today I have studied the valve seat. After a lot of shots I concerned that the blok would wear out. That isn't the case. The valve is a little round at the corners where it touches the aluminium. The Prophet III has an rvs valve seat. That is easy to replace. I am thinking about making a new valve, with a little angle so that there is more area that touches the valve seat. The valve diameter is 9,1mm. I think the diameter can be a little bigger. Also there is a little blow back. I saw thread on the hammer side al the way where the valve stem is going trough the block. Maybe an oring wil stay in place. My valve is polished.
I am planning to make a video about the mods I have done.

I recently received an RTI Mora .357 sniper that I had ordered. First impressions, it’s a beautiful gun, feels great in the hands, very light and smooth cocking and great trigger, also very quiet. Out of the box from Talon Tunes it was shooting 100gr zan slugs at around 215 fpe.

Issues I am having: pellets and slugs are clipping inside of the air stripper in the shroud, throwing accuracy way off. I have tried 3 different weighted Zan slugs, 2 different weights of NSA slugs, some home cast slugs and JSB pellets. I opened up the air stripper a little which helped accuracy without the provided hush 50 silencer attached, but now clips with the silencer attached. I’ve spent some time shooting without the silencer. When I go to air up the gun and then return to shooting, the point of impact changes and I have to zero it again, this happens everytime. During one of my shooting sessions, the shroud base that clamps to the barrel blew back and I got blasted with air. Now the trigger is slowly moving further and further back into the handle. Currently have about 400 rounds shot through it. The gun did not come with the cheek rest or a user manual which I have read others complain about as well. Not exactly what I expected from a gun in this price range, but they are a new release and I guess there will be bugs to work out. Currently working with Talon Tunes to see what we do from here.

Just wanted to share my findings and see what others might be experiencing.

Can you remove the barrel. Push a slug or pellet into the barrel with a piece of wood? The big transferports has sharp edges. Possibly these are scraping a little bit lead of the slug/pellet. With my RPB barrel that was the case. I carefully removed the sharp edges with a small Dremel tool and files. Ending with a polish on the lathe. Also the slugs and pellet are going in much smoother.

Thank you.

Yes, RTI arms shop are a different company.
Try and deal with RTI arms direct.
I've had good service from RTI and poor service from RTI arms shop.

Looking forward to your mods video. 👍

This year because of health issues I haven't done much shooting, my prophets still remain my favourites though.

This sucks. FYI i did a lot of testing and measuring and I'm very certain clipping occurs from pitch/yaw on the slug from launch dynamics.

I found that a fully open valve spring regularly produces clipping, while some turns (2+) produce much more consistent shots and no clipping, regardless of variations of grains/regulated pressure.

But also, the ID of the moderator measure 12.98ish at the tip, which is the same measurement as the Hush .30 moderator.

This is all compounded by :
  1. concentricity issues of monocore
  2. the fact that the breech is so long and we can put 14mm+ long slugs which with a bit of pitch/yaw at launch will easily clip on the second to last milled slot of the moderator

While figuring all of this out, my hush moderator got bent/deformed from heavy clipping at the second to last milled opening and I can't get a response from Tony at Talon Tunes on availability of a replacement, third party or from RTI, warranty or out of pocket. Just nothing.

The male threads on the 9mm hush measure 14.9mm OD, which is non standard. I called DonnyFL and I would have to send the shroud in to have them make a custom adapter to fit any of their 9mm mods.

Net net RTI appear to have produced a poor 9mm offering in an effort to save cost/reuse components from the other caliber variants. Ugh...

I knew there would be issues with a brand new model, but I was not expecting the poor/slow communication from RTI nor for them to push the resolution of so many manufacturing defects onto their customers/Tony at Talon tunes.
