Western Airguns Mordax pcp!

Breaking News: the .30 cal Mordax is delayed because of cycling issues… and they won’t be available until late December. The .22 and .25 will be available this week or next.

I changed my .30 order - don’t want a fidgety cycling semi/full auto.
I received my .25 cal mordax. in the instruction manual it shows you how to take the barrel off. It then says you may have to do this to clean the barrel or change calibers. That leads me to believe that its a multi caliber airgun.

i had a western sidewinder, i found the full auto feature to be very slow - i could actually shoot in semi auto faster than the full auto cycled.
i did not like the action feel or sound compared to my k1/gk1 - i still think those are better engineered pieces. This prevents me from getting excited about the mordax...

so how do you like the mordax? if you strip it down to just a pistol,no folding stock and open sights, how long is it? how heavy is it? would you consider it to be good for a holster? compared to the GK1?
thank you

so I don't know much about the Western sidewinder.. but I did shoot my friends LCS 19 and I liked it's cycling speed, I have a hatsan blitz and it is way too fast for my liking.. I had read somewhere that the LCS has a adjustable cycle speed.. maybe it's a screw you turn in or out? I didn't see any actual adjustment knobs but hey I only shot part of one magazine.. half at least on full auto and the rest on semi auto..I really liked the trigger on the LCS and GK1.. the trigger pull is horrible heavy on my hatsan blitz..if I could turn down the cycle of the blitz and at least lighten up the trigger pull it wouldn't be too bad.. I've been told I need to put more pellets through it, it's had less than a tin..

actually the LCS is still made and serviced.. Donny FL is selling them..
new..

For the last couple years when LCS owners needed service they tried reaching out to the LCS contact with no reply. They also reached to AOA who confirmed LCS is no longer in business. They were caught up in a legal battle with Huben K1 over patent infringement of the hammerless system. Looks like they lost.

As far as Donny FL selling them, I believe he bought out the remaining stock and modified them with FX barrels to make them more appealing to buyers.

The GK1 beats it in every category except the removable mag. I have the shorty GK1 and it doubles its fps and fpe

I think I'm going to wait a year or two and see what comes out next. Semiauto PCP's are advancing pretty quickly and the shot count and magazine capacity of the Mordax are both lower than I'd like and the Sidewinder/Mordax mags are ridiculously expensive.

A select fire .22 should hold more than 15 shots and get more than 30 shots per fill and $170 per mag is more than I want to pay.

I don’t get why the shorty costs like $500 more though. Oh wait actually I think I do… the words “money hungry” comes to mind
The shorty doubles the FPE of the standard 22 mordax. So obviously you guys dont own one and are assuming. Not to mention its shorter.

The shorty doubles the FPE of the standard mordax and is smaller. I dont mind when people dog on other airguns but you have to know the chrony numbers. Just get on YouTube the Huben shorty is shooting 70fpe

I read through most of the posts and agree that the GK1 is a better pistol but the removable mag and full auto still is appealing ;) At $1850 it seems kind of pricey compared to the GK1. It is good to see some competition, maybe Huben will create a removable mag one day? The shorty is cool as it provides what some here have spend more to modify a GK1 to be a shorty; that is where to me it has an advantage. A shorty with full auto is a fun gun that would be great for *MOD EDIT - VIOLATION OF RULE #3*. Check out the full auto grouping at 25 yards in this review, it is pretty impressive...

I have a Huben shorty .25 and it shoots 70fpe and is smaller. I also have the .25 Mordax. You are right about the removable magazine though - thats a nice feature. Also you can mag dump a Huben shorty faster than the mordax because it's unregulated. The Mordax is more accurate because it's regulated. Also you can switch back to the normal Huben by exchanging the tank and airtube.

Now thats a review by someone who does not get paid and has both airguns.
