Western Airguns Mordax

Im surprised no one has made a thread about this one yet. It kinda looks like a Huben GK1 on steroids. It'll be available in .22, .25 and .30 aparantly. It's regulated. And has a full-auto option. Basically, it seems to be a WA Sidewinder in a smaller package.

Was waiting for this! but surprised at the seemingly low shot count (7) at full power in .22 Maybe because it’s regulated? at the higher tank pressure it’s not taking advantage of being able to use a smaller volume of air while at the higher pressure (maybe Im misunderstanding that relation, feel free to correct me)? Idk, either way very cool!

Those 7 shots are with the reg set to 190bar so that is not surprising to me. You could technically get more shots off, but they would be off-reg, so considerably weaker. I think if shot count is your biggest concern, it's best to just stick with the Sidewinder or Rattler. Or just turn the power down considerably ^^

Im curious how much the power will scale as you go up in caliber. 40 to 45 ft-lbs is definitely not too shabby for a .22. Even if it is only a few shots.

I personally don't see anything wrong with trying to compete with the GK1. In fact it was inevitable that someone would give it a shot.

Many GK1 owners are converting their pistols to a carbine, so WA's approach makes sense. It also seems to have a few advantages over the GK1. A default pic rail in the back. Removeable magazine. AR style grip. And according to the article you can easily swap calibers by changing the barrel and magazine. Which is pretty cool too. The GK1 relies on a lot of after market parts or modding to achieve similar things (or it's not possible at all, like the removeable mag).

If the .30 can push 70ft-lbs or more it'll be a worthy competitor. That said, I still love my GK1 and I don't think the Mordax will change that. But it's nice to have more options. As someone who loves shooting off-hand as opposed to bench-resting, I love these smaller airguns. It saves me a lot of back problems, haha.

I like it, but the air cylinder, plenum, and barrel length needs to be sized up just a bit so it isn't directly competing with the GK1, and this will give it a full magazine worth of high power shots instead of just a portion of them.
One thing I really like about the Mordax over the other siblings (Sidewinder regular and compact) is that it moves the action out forward of the shooters head. I have the regular Sidewinder, and the thing I dislike about it is that the action is so loud with my head sitting right on it - I also have a Huben K1 and although similar, it is much quieter in this regard. The Sidewinder is just not a pleasant gun for me to shoot, when compared to others.

It would be cool to see a Mordax action and trigger set up paired with the bottle set up from one of the others. The length would kind of negate the value of the folding stock, so that could be fixed for what I am thinking of. That would be a much more pleasant gun to shoot than the Sidewinder, and obviously add more shots and power too.
