Tuning More impact pellet probe woes, maybe?

So I finally installed my Orion impact magazine inserts. It completely solved my loading issues I had with the huma and factory pellet probes. Thanks @orion! So I have the huma high flow pellet probe installed, and I set the depth based on how the ports lined up with the barrel outside the gun. Everything seems fine, but now I feel some resistance when loading a pellet right at the very end of the cocking stroke. It happens with all the pellets I’ve tried, but not with slugs. Can I assume this is normal? Or should I be backing the pellet probe out a little to stop the resistance?

I measured from back of probe holder to back of frame, and I’m getting about 43.5mm. An Ernest video I watched stated 45, so mine is actually further out of the port than factory. That being said, I’m using the k&l probe holder and huma high flow pellet probe, so maybe machining is different on both?

any help would be great.

I had to machine a couple thousandths off the face of the Huma probe to get my gun to close the way it did with the stock probe. I didn’t feel like tearing the gun apart to adjust the depth. I wanted to be able to switch right back to my stock probe if I want. You don’t want that resistance as your linkage cams over or you’re going to wear something out.

So the simple way is to adjust the linkage a little right?

You must have huma daul transfer port installed too I don't have any trouble with mine just lined up the set screw hole and installed it it's smooth hmm I noticed it looks loose and moves up and down with set screw tight just figured that was way it was supposed to be

I have the Ernest dual transfer port, and the huma probe. There’s no issue indexing there pellet any more. That was solved by the Orion inserts. The factory fix mags just weren’t lining the pellets up properly. When you look at the pellet in the Orion insert, the pellet sits perfectly centered in the hole. They are a work of art. I guess I could adjust the probe back some, but it’s shooting just fine, and FPS is good. There is so damage to the pellets. I removed the barrel to check for that. I can’t believe I went through all these indexing issues because I wanted a pellet probe over a pin probe, and all I needed to do was replace those darn magazine inserts. Now I have all these spare parts, and a k&l probe carrier with new pellet probe in the gun, and it really wasn’t all necessary. It all would have worked fine if I would have got those mag inserts first. Oh well. Trial and error!

One way is to take the gun apart and adjust it so the gun closes properly. My resistance came right as the cocking handle was almost all the way forward. I knew it wouldn’t take much. You can just use some 400 grit sandpaper on a piece of glass to face it. I’m guessing a good many of linkage pin failures I’ve seen about Impacts are self induced because guys change the probe, don’t have it adjusted right and wreck their linkage pins. I took about half the material off the Huma but my bore scope says my flow is just fine.
