Yes, I was not suggesting you test wadcutters. Like you say they are only good for 10 meter distances. I only tried to point out that there are identical pellets made by different companies.

Having Martin put on a u f 1/2 20 was BRILLIANT! Have fun shooting it and tuning it! Please let us know how the slugs fly!Hello @Ranchibi
It sure is nice to have this thing back on my benchrest, now it is just a matter of time to get it completely fine tuned. I have some slugs but as you can see I did not try them, but I will as soon as the weather allows. I will find and view that thread, thanks for the info. Just a side note: boy this thing sure looks funny without that diesel muffler hanging off the end , it's also a lot lighter in weight
Thanks,
ThomasT

Oh my! That's some very tough wind conditions there! Try the easy NSA sample pack! Bet you find one that your barrel likes! I think many .177 are perfect for slug slinging especially the poly barrels. Keep us up to date on the slug journey.Hello again @Ranchibi
Well I just tried some even though it was not perfect conditions, wind 15-20 w/gust to 25 and 90 degrees to my range , OK so again not perfect. Anyway I shot two rounds of 20 shots each and almost identical results, extreme center to center 1" one first .875" on second. I used JSB 13.43 Knockout. On some shots I could see the leaves blowing across the range at greater than a 45 degree angle . However the vertical spread was no so good either. Still have a lot of options. I also shot 20 rounds of JSB MRD 13.43 and the spread was only 1/2", go figure? I live on the back side of a steep hill on Sam Rayburn Lake and get really weird wind conditions, I have seen 80-foot tall trees with their tops blowing 180 degrees different directions.

Hello @RanchibiThomas, you and your Crown are definitely in harmony! And, yes, the sound signatures do change with different projectiles! I hear the biggest difference when shooting slugs compared to pellets...a more muted sound leaving barrel but a louder thud when hitting the target! You have 2 wonderful shooters in your Crown and RAW....enjoy shooting them both!
