Most sturdy tripod

Hi,

I need some support allowing for ArcaSwiss rail attachment and standing position shooting. I am not satisfied with Primos TriggerStick gen3 as it flexes a bit. Maybe something from BOG?

Please advise.

collapses to a prone position, removable leg to make it a bipod or monopod. Very sturdy and stable. Very lightweight and comes with spike tips for extra stability while hunting.

Gitzo tripod with RRS ball head. If it’s good enough for the PRS boys, you’d think it would work for air guns; it does. Very light, very expensive, not bulky.

LH-40 on other hand I will recommend to everyone.

I purchased a Artcise AS90C carbon tube rated for 44 KG top weight for my powder burner and am currently adapting to my Kalibr Argus 60 to an arca swiss pad for it. It has a 75mm articulation ball built in at the very top giving 34 degrees of angular freedom. I did not need any addition ball head.

Any tripod with a leg diameter of between like 40-44mm is going to be the most sturdy. Tripods with a leg diameter of 34-38mm are also going to be pretty darn sturdy too as long as you buy a quality unit. The Innorel that Dairyboy uses is a good sturdy tripod at a great price. Sirui, LeoFoto and many other brands are great too for the price, you just need to look at the specifications... Leg diameter, number of sections and wall thickness. RRS and Gitzo are some of the best but are very expensive. They are really not necessary but they are great if you want to spend $1000-$1400. Well, I shouldn’t say not necessary, the set up WillM posted a picture of is freakin awesome! I can’t afford it though! I used to own a RRS BH-55 for my big lenses and that thing is a beast, expensive but the best. The BH-40 is also the bomb! The low profile bowl adapter he’s using are super stable, Dairyboy has a similar bowl adapter with a great head too! There are so many great options available these days if you look at B&H or some of the other big photo retailers. A quality head is important too. Other things like keeping the gun centered over the head, keeping the tripod as low and the base as wide as possible without extending a bunch of leg sections and not using the center column if you have one, also greatly contribute to stability. Using straps and additional supports to brace the gun are also extremely useful in increasing stability while shooting too.

I use 2 different tripods for photography. Both would be great to use for an air rifle, as well.

The most expensive is the carbon fiber Induro classic, with a maximum payload of 35 lbs. (One has to buy a ball head, too.)

I know that the payloads sound high. However, one wants a rock solid tripod for photography. The Benro has traveled many tens of 1000’s of miles with me and is very reliable.
