KA-BOOM! The Atomic XR in mini carbine form just blew the rest of my PCPs out of the safe. It's a perfect little rig for 99% of what I do with an airgun. Which is sub 50 yards pesting, plinking and target shooting. The seeming trend is towards more power, heavier projectiles, and longer ranges (100+ yards). So it can be easy to overlook this little gem as being underpowered for the price. If power is your focus then you might be right. But consider the robustness of the platform, the sweet form factor and it's real world⛈🌧🌩 ability. 18-20 FPE at the top end is plenty for small pests🐿out to 50 yards or more.
It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Brocock PCPs, both of mine have been bomber through years of usage. Initially I balked at the price of the Atomic XR, but knew it was a matter of time before I would have one. Particularly after watching Dana torture an Atomic XR that still performed at the end of his severe tests. But then an unexpected and exciting opportunity was presented to me! Airguns of Arizona offered me an Atomic XR! My intent for the Atomic XR is simple, to use it, "as is, out the box"... Then when my clubs' Junior Sportsmen Program starts in mid-April. I'll be putting it into the hands of as many kids as possible. The proportions of the chassis and adjustability of the stock are going to make it simple to fit each kid. Am excited to have the youngsters shooting groups and posting them up.
I am not a reviewer and will continue to post as I always have, from a users' long term perspective. The Atomic XR has already been reviewed thoroughly by professionals. This is how my Atomic XR currently rolls... DonnyFl Tanto, Aztec Emerald FFP off my Compatto and an Accu-Tac BR4 G2. I will eventually run a smaller scope and bipod.
