Match Report for 8/31/2024
We had 11 shooters for this month's match. The Weather was cool in the morning about 60 degrees and quickly warmed up threw the afternoon into the mid 80’s competitors were feeling the heat by the end of the match which ended around 2:15 and began at 10:15 am. While preparing to host the Nationals this October MRA FT added some new lanes and reconstructed about 40% of the original course adding 16 new lanes in total. In this section of the course the firing line is in the open and the targets are in deep wooded area abutting a marsh making target visibility very much part of the challenge. Overall it was a fresh new experience for those that had made it to any of monthly matches throughout the Spring and Summer. Leo and I shot WFTF style 1 shot per target and the Hunter classes shot the standard AAFTA Format 2 shots per target.
Before the match started a group of shooters arrived early around 7:30 -8:00 am and sight to help me with setting up and painting targets and running strings. It was fun to see everyone try out the new lanes and I was interested to get some feedback on any recommendations and tweaks to be made. Next Month's match will be the Mass State Championships match and we will have a new course set up with the last of the new lane additions to try out before the Nationals in October. Thank you everyone for all the help!
